Over the weekend I had the best shopping experience. Markman's Jewelry said they couldn't help me. Oh course the people k8mball's jewelry proved them wrong. From the time I walked in was greeted by the CEO Danny Overbey. He immediately address my problem and did his best to comfort us. In a matter of 10 minutes problem was solved. Further, I would like to clarify that this is not simply limited to the one associate. Hardly any customers were present within Kimball's, and I was ignored until approaching a team member directly. I have never had a similar experience at any jewelry store. Attached is the email I sent to the company.*
I rarely feel the need to write complaint emails, but I had an uncomfortable experience at your Kingston Pike location this morning that I wanted to bring to your attention.
I brought in a watch for a simple resizing (removal of two links). The associate who assisted me--a tall gentleman--immediately made a disapproving face when I explained what I needed. He then informed me that removing just two links would cost $40 and asked how long I had owned the watch. Feeling the interaction was becoming confrontational, I said the watch actually belonged to a friend and that I might return later. He responded by questioning why I would bring in a watch that wasn't mine.
To avoid further tension, I thanked him and left. I then visited another jewelry store where the same service, removing two links, was performed quickly and free of charge.
I'm curious about your official policy on watch resizing and associated fees, but more importantly, I was disappointed by the associate's dismissive and annoyed demeanor over such a minor request. A simple, routine service should not leave a customer feeling uncomfortable or interrogated.
I would appreciate your thoughts on the matter and any clarification on resizing policies. Thank you for your time and attention.
