- SMSheina MayNov 26, 20251.0The absolute worst ignition interlock company to go with. At all cost, LITERALLY, do not go with Smart Start. I am only supposed to have one charge a month which would be the calibration, I get charged three and four times a month. They never have a reason or explanation for the charges. There is no one that you can speak to of higher authority than the calling center. It is the most ridiculous place. I was only supposed to have my device for 365 days and I am going on 4 years now. It is absolutely insane three is no way anyone could afford the money they have charged me on a monthly basis. I had two months left with my device and went in to get my calibration done paid for it two days early even. I show up my shop goes to calibrate and confess back dating I had an outstanding balance of two hundred some odd dollars. So I called Smart Start asked them what was going on they verified that I did pay it but because the shop I was going to couldn't get their system to match Smart Starts I was refused my calibration. That refusal restarted my entire year on top of that my device was lock for three weeks. Smart Start is highway robbery.

The only downfall was SmartStart did not tell me I had to leave the vehicle there for several hours. I thought of my appointment being at a certain time that guaranteed me a time zone two when I get my vehicle back. Complications arise, but being a little bit more knowledgeable by telling people it could take several hours to do the install, and your vehicle has to be dropped off and left at the garage can go a lot further for people who are on time restricted schedules.
