Bass Pro has always been a place we've enjoyed going to whether just to look around or to shop. Unfortunately, they've made it almost miserable to be there now. The minute you walk in, you are immediately stopped by employees trying to get you to sign up for their credit card. My wife and I visited recently and were there for 10, maybe 15 minutes tops and were asked 4 times by 4 separate employees about signing up for their credit card. Not only that, but another employee asked us if we needed help with anything, which is fine, but when we said no, continued to ask us what we were looking for and followed us as we walked away. Then he asked us again if we needed help when we passed by again. I'm not trying to discourage having employees willing to help customers, as that is something that can be hard to find nowadays, but it just feels like nonstop harassment by employees from the minute you walk in the door. I don't know if this is just at this location or a corporate decision, but we decided then and there that we will not be back as long as these policies continue. This time it was the credit card, last time they were trying to sign us up for some vacation thing. I'm fine with an employee asking me if I need help, but when I say no, leave it at that, and don't ask me again. I am an adult and can come to you if I need anything. I can even deal with maybe the cashier asking me when checking out if I'm interested in the credit card ONE time, but to be stopped by employees 6 times in maybe 15 minutes is absolutely ridiculous and makes the shopping experience completely unenjoyable. There is nothing more off-putting than having someone try to sell you something the minute you walk through the door, then if that's not bad enough, to have a store full of employees that apparently have nothing better to do than walk around trying to sell you stuff as well. I still love the Bass Pro store and merchandise, and I hope these harassment policies will change and Bass Pro can become an enjoyable place for me and my family to go again.

The staff was AMAZING! I use a cane. When the young man noticed he RAN to get me a scooter. When I asked a question it was answered POLITELY! When I couldn't find a price 2 people made sure I found it. When the card reader didn't work they moved me to a different machine and carried my items! While apologizing. Not one time did they do the eye roll or ask for a different card. I spemt anout $400 and i left very happy and excited to use my new toys:)

I live local, this is probably the worst bass pro I’ve ever been to. Time and time again. Constantly out of stock except candy and items for tourist. It’s like I’m being bounty hunted every time I come to this store. No I don’t want to sign up for club points. If you are a tourist this is a great stop for candy and children’s toys. I would also like to add the bathroom is always poor condition.

I really used to love this store. When you first crack the door at the main entrance you are instantly transported to the lodge in the mountain where all your cares leave you…but once you pass the turnstiles, you are transported to Hell. The employees no longer help you make decisions about fly fishing equipment, they instead chase you around and try to sell you some travel plan that seems shady, then when you finally do make an equipment purchase and try to leave, you are not politely asked but pestered to buy product warranties, credit card offers and on and on. When your customers feel relieved as I did after leaving ‘paradise’, you have lost your way. This isn’t a one time thing either…it’s been happening over and over for months now.
I know this isn’t a local store decision, I know it must be something being pushed down from the CEO, so pass this back up to him-if revenue and/or profitability are suffering so much that you change your whole customer experience to what I’ve described above, do better. Do better, senior leadership so that your local store management and teams don’t have to suffer the brunt of your bad decisions.

I’m writing to express my extreme disappointment with an encounter my family and I experienced at your Chattanooga, TN location on November 3, 2025. What began as a fun family outing to one of our favorite stores ended with a level of disrespect that I can only describe as shocking and deeply unprofessional.
My husband and I visited your store with our two young sons, ages 4 and 7. As the closing announcement was made, my husband went to check out while I took both boys to the restroom. Between the normal chaos of helping two small children and finishing up, we walked out approximately ten minutes after closing. My husband had already completed his purchase right at closing time and was waiting for us near the exit.
During the roughly 20 minutes we spent in the store, both of our boys were extremely well-behaved and closely monitored. Like so many children, they absolutely adore Bass Pro Shops — the boats, the fish tanks, the wildlife displays, the toy section, and the excitement of Santa’s Wonderland being set up for the season. Their eyes lit up at every turn, and they were thrilled to pick out items to add to their Christmas lists. It was exactly the kind of wholesome family moment your brand has always represented — until it was tarnished by the actions of one employee.
As we exited, two kind female employees smiled, told us “thank you,” and wished us a good night. Their professionalism reflected the kind of service Bass Pro Shops is known for. Unfortunately, that goodwill was immediately erased by one male employee whose behavior was completely unacceptable.
This man — described as white, heavyset, with a beer belly, who identified himself only as “Steve” — initially told us to “have a good night” and “y’all come back.” However, the moment he assumed I was out of earshot, he followed it up with a snide and unprovoked “never.”
Perhaps Steve thought that locking a door gave him the last word, but unfortunately for him, I heard every bit of it. I stopped, asked his name directly, and was met with silence and a blank stare through the glass. Only after I pressed again did he crack the door open just long enough to mutter “Steve” before closing it.
Now, I’m not sure what kind of training or personal upbringing encourages an employee to speak that way to customers — particularly to a mother with two young children — but I can assure you, it doesn’t reflect well on your brand. My boys are being raised to show respect, responsibility, and integrity — the same values Bass Pro Shops claims to champion. They were polite, excited, and full of wonder. Instead of leaving with happy memories, they left watching their mother be insulted for no reason.
When I shared this incident with another female employee in the parking lot, she was genuinely apologetic and informed me that “Greg” is Steve’s supervisor. I hope Greg and upper management take this as seriously as I do.
Before I take this any further — whether that be through public reviews or social media posts — I want to give your management team the opportunity to address this incident directly. I would much rather see Bass Pro Shops handle this professionally than have to publicize the treatment we received.
What was supposed to be a magical family evening, with our boys already talking about coming back for Christmas gifts and to see Santa, now feels tainted. The thought of returning to the Chattanooga store — the same place where an employee mocked us — is truly disheartening. My children were excited to come back for their holiday shopping, but now, we feel too unwelcome to do so.
My family deserves the same respect every other paying customer receives, regardless of whether it’s 10 minutes before or after closing. My children deserve to walk out of your store inspired — not insulted.
