When did Bass Pro become like the gatlinburg strip? My dad and I went to Bass Pro and immediately when I came through the door a man bombarded me and I kept trying to walk away and he kept talking. I had at least five people ask if I needed help and when I finally got upset and said, “I’m an avid outdoorswoman I don’t need help” the man laughed at me. (The same man who looked like he had three ex wives, only plays video games and wouldnt know a poplar tree from a fir) Then when I went to the fishing section to find my dad, three men asked if they could help me. Each time I said no. The final time I said, “I’m literally looking for my dad?!” We continue on to the hunting section and a man and woman relentlessly tried to sell us timeshares. I have never been so happy to leave a store and Bass Pro is my favorite store?! As an outdoorswoman I don’t even feel like I can shop there alone because I don’t feel safe. That’s just not fair.

No help at gun counter. I ordered I online. Went to pick it up and was asked to put my name on kiosk to be next. I did. Two random guys walk up and the counter worker helped them in front of me. I went to customer service to cancel my order and ultimately nobody cared. Manager didn’t even ask why. Avoid unless you have time to waste.

You're forcing me to flag your staff's aggressive marketing ploys in your Bristol store tonight. In a mere 7 to 8 minutes I was intercepted by three store associates in various departments wanting to hard sell me x-y-z service, you name it, including the ever-nauseating sell at the front turnstyle for the club card. Cmon you have a gorgeous store with great products. Feel free to dial it back. Couldn't wait to leave.

Felt like a carnival with overly aggressive employees trapping us with their long scripted sales pitches. One even had the audacity to make a comment about my body. We left after only 5 minutes and will not return.

I’ve shopped at Bass Pro Shops many times over the years and have always had good experiences, but my recent experiences—specifically with the firearms department—have been consistently frustrating and disappointing. First, the firearms department is almost always understaffed. There is regularly a long wait just to speak with someone, to the point where you now have to sign into a waitlist simply to talk to a salesperson. When you finally do get help, the level of firearm knowledge is often lacking. Several employees seem to have little to no understanding of the firearms they are selling, which is unacceptable for a department dealing with regulated, high-responsibility products. My biggest issue, however, is inventory management. Recently, I went in to purchase a firearm, only to find out they were completely out of stock except for the display model. The salesperson offered to sell me the display firearm. I declined, because I’ve previously purchased a display firearm from this store and deeply regretted it. Many of the display firearms have visible scuffs, light abrasions, and cosmetic wear from being repeatedly handled and removed from showcases. I know this because I’ve personally seen it—and because I used to work in a gun store, where this kind of wear is very common. I asked the salesperson to order a new, boxed firearm instead. I was under the impression that was done—until I received an email later that evening saying my order was ready for pickup. When I called to confirm, I discovered they had processed the display firearm anyway, the exact one I explicitly did not want. This created an entirely unnecessary situation that could have been avoided with basic communication and proper training. I was told the only solution was to refund my money and then repurchase the firearm once a new one was ordered. From my experience working in a gun store, when inventory gets that low, more stock is typically ordered proactively. While some customers don’t mind buying display firearms, many do—especially collectors or anyone who wants a brand-new, untouched firearm. The whole point of a display is to show the product, not to sell cosmetically worn items as “new.” I was also told that Bass Pro doesn’t order more inventory until everything is completely sold out. I can understand that from a corporate standpoint, but it doesn’t make sense when the remaining display firearms are visibly worn and clearly handled by hundreds of people. At that point, it becomes a poor customer experience. To make matters worse, I have repeatedly tried to speak with the firearms department manager to address these concerns, but I’ve been unable to get in contact with them. The lack of communication makes it feel like these issues simply aren’t a priority especially since I have not heard anything from the manager or even a simple apology about the situation with the order I had placed. Overall, this experience left me with the impression that Bass Pro Shops—at least this location—doesn’t care about customer concerns or earning repeat business in their firearms department. If they don’t care about my money, I won’t be spending it here anymore.
