- ZMZ MooseJan 18, 20261.0Unwelcoming customer service. I called the Belk Shelter Cove location to ask about a ring sizing, which is typically a quick and complimentary service at most jewelers. I was told this would only be done if I was committed to purchasing something from Belk. I explained that I wanted to look at their selection first and that the person being sized is new to rings and wanted proper guidance, but the response still felt very transactional and unwelcoming. Ring sizing is simple and commonly used as an opportunity to introduce customers to a store’s selection and build rapport. Instead, this interaction discouraged us from visiting at all. Given that this was a rainy day in January during the slow season on the island, it was especially surprising. I would have considered buying from Belk, but not under the impression that basic customer service requires a purchase commitment.
