  The order pickup process was extremely inefficient and disappointing. What should have been a quick pickup took over 15 minutes due to confusion and lack of staffing. I was directed to multiple areas of the store to find assistance, while most employees were occupied with other customers. Only one customer service desk was staffed, and I was then sent to the cosmetics department to retrieve an order unrelated to that department. When I arrived, staff were busy assisting other customers and I was told I would need to wait until they were finished teaching their customers about the makeup they were looking at. For a service designed for convenience, the process felt disorganized and unnecessarily difficult. I hope management improves staffing and the pickup process.

  Unwelcoming customer service. I called the Belk Shelter Cove location to ask about a ring sizing, which is typically a quick and complimentary service at most jewelers. I was told this would only be done if I was committed to purchasing something from Belk. I explained that I wanted to look at their selection first and that the person being sized is new to rings and wanted proper guidance, but the response still felt very transactional and unwelcoming. Ring sizing is simple and commonly used as an opportunity to introduce customers to a store’s selection and build rapport. Instead, this interaction discouraged us from visiting at all. Given that this was a rainy day in January during the slow season on the island, it was especially surprising. I would have considered buying from Belk, but not under the impression that basic customer service requires a purchase commitment.
