What I didn’t realize is that to get the actual discount, you have to check out in separate transactions so the half‑off applies to the right items. Otherwise, the system quietly takes 50% off the cheapest thing in your cart. Yes, it’s technically in the signage, ads, and app… but who wants to play pricing games when they’re just trying to get a good deal? So what did this savvy shopper do? I marched right back in, returned everything, and redid the purchases in two transactions just to get an extra $16 back. Sixteen dollars. Make it make sense. I used to love Academy, but this kind of checkout gymnastics doesn’t feel customer‑friendly. How many other shoppers are losing money because they don’t know the “secret rules” to the sale? Academy, this one’s for corporate: your customers deserve transparency, not a puzzle at the register.

I called the store while in line multiple times and no answer. Service is nonexistent. Also the changing room was filthy with dust bunnies and stuff everywhere! I put my items down and left.
