- SSSamDec 13, 20254.0Somehow, LL Bean has mastered the art of being an elite outdoor outfitter while quietly hanging out in a strip mall like it’s there to pick up groceries. Don’t be fooled by the humble surroundings—inside lies what can only be described as a flannel wonderland. Seriously, I’ve seen fewer flannel shirts at a lumberjack convention. If you’re a flannel-wearing hipster, this place is basically your spiritual home. The quality is exactly what you expect: rugged enough to survive mountain hikes, rogue campfires, or whatever “outdoor adventure” you’re planning (including walking your dog in bad weather). Prices felt fair for gear that looks like it could outlive me, and the selection of clothes and shoes was massive—dangerously so for my wallet. Bonus points to the staff, who were genuinely helpful and polite, even while watching me try to convince myself I didn’t need another flannel. (I did.) Come for the outdoor gear, stay because you accidentally became a flannel person.

I started shopping at Bean in the early 80's when I was in my early teens in High School, it was the best back then, quality, prices, custom service. It is just unbelievable of the people taking orders and dealing with people, a supervisor yet who was just plain rude. Old Leon Leonwood is probably turning over in his grave if knowing what LL Bean is now. Very sad and not a new story with almost everything today.
