Why do we sign up for photo appts with the Easter bunny if we still have to wait for people who didn’t make an appt. We were in the express line for appts and still had to wait for 4 families that did not make an appt that were in the other line. Also, if I’m paying for photos, I want all 3. I was told I could choose the 1 free print but was under the assumption I was buying the other 2. That’s unacceptable!

This place has become a complete mess. I drove all the way from Vancouver to Tualatin just to sell some firearms, only to be told it would take up to six hours. That’s unacceptable.
No one bothered to mention over the phone that you need an appointment. Then at check-in, I’m told it’s 45 minutes to an hour per gun. For four guns, that’s basically my entire day gone. That’s not service, that’s incompetence.
Ever since the switch from Cabela’s to Bass Pro Shops, this place has clearly gone downhill. Poor communication, terrible process, and a complete lack of respect for people’s time.
If this is the new standard, it’s no surprise this place is losing its reputation. It needs a serious overhaul, because right now it’s inefficient, disorganized, and honestly just frustrating to deal with.

I picked up a firearm this morning with a scheduled appointment. Joshua was extremely helpful and professional during the entire transaction. The 5 stars is for Joshua only.
I had already purchased the firearm online, so i was able to schedule an appointment to pick it up at 10:00 AM. With an appointment, the process took around 1.5 hours. A majority of the time was waiting for manager sign offs. it seemed 2 or 3 sign offs are needed per firearm transaction. The kicker is, there's no dedicated manager for the gun section. I'd say a good 15-20 minutes was spent waiting for a manager to resolve something in the camping section across the store. Eventually a different manager came over to give the final approval.
Mind you, this was a Saturday morning, presumably one of the busiest times of the week, and there were only 2 people processing fire arm transactions.
It's kind of mind blowing to be this understaffed, especially as in order to even look at a firearm, you have to check in at the kiosk and you're put into the same queue as people who are finalizing their firearm purchases. If I didn't have an appointment, it probably would've taken over 4 hours to get my rifle.
There were multiple people who simply left when they found out they had to sign in to look or even ask detailed questions about a firearm.
I'd imagine they lost tons of sales by being this understaffed. I know labor is a controllable, and managers need to keep costs down, but the whole thing felt penny smart, pound foolish.
They would've sold way more items if they were appropriately staffed.
Final take way: I will probably never purchase a firearm from Bass Pro again, unless it's an insanely good deal and purchase online. If you want to look, ask questions, and make a purchase in store, I would recommend going literally anywhere else.
My kids asked to stop and visit. I'm glad I listened. What a great place! Good customer service, hands on assistance in the gun and knife departments, and lots of beautiful taxidermy. The little ones loved the aquarium and the mountain display. Would recommend to anyone between 0 and 135 years old.

As a huge outdoorsman, I used to exclusively shop at Cabela’s for my outdoor adventures. I even remember my very first purchase when I was about 13 (back in the late 90s). I loved receiving the big hardback book catalog! I was even a Cabela’s Field Ambassador in late 2010s. I know change is inevitable, but once Johnny Morris of Bass Pro bought Cabela’s he totally ruined it. It went from a luxury destination outdoor store to basically the Walmart of outdoor stores. They cut staff, drastically reduced the ammo section, brought in more clothes/gifts, the private brands went from quality first to margin first, you get it. They did a 180 in regard to what made Cabela’s special. You used to go knowing you paid more but the experience, customer service, product quality and post purchase service were second to none. That’s gone. I no longer shop there. If you’ve never been, it’s worth walking the store to see the cool taxidermy and fish.
