- RCRobert CastroFeb 20, 20263.0The two guys in this location were decently OK as far as been /poli B/ however, Smart Start as a company is horrible. I lost my job right after I got the device installed. I was only supposed to have it for three months and they told me that I couldn’t get it removed until I could pay off the total balance so it racked up over $2000 before I finally talked to state patrol and he said that I can have it removed anytime and they were lying to me. They were sending me through all these hoops once again and as soon as I mentioned the state patrol everything was done as quick as possible right away like they were told almost not to let people know that they can do that. Ridiculous finally getting it taken out So I can sell the vehicle but I haven’t drove in two years since it just got installed and I owe the credit is almost $3000 now. Again once I’m interested patrol everything changed with these guys shady as hell.

The company's billing department and online customer service are predatory and perplexingly bad. However the guys at the shop have nothing to do with that and just want to get you back on the road. Set up my interlock for a 90day all clear certificate and they made multiple appointments when one could have covered my next costing more money. Asked for my 90day all clear certificate called 3times and at 123 day they found out that I needed another appointment to receive the certificate. hundreds of dollars later, ill be able to get it taken out. Use another company you’ll be great full. (The company also will make payments if you keep your card on record even if you are not set up for auto pay)

What do I need for removal?
Requirements will differ by state, but generally your state authority must grant removal authorization before you can have your IID removed. How does an Interlock Device work?
When you blow into your Ignition Interlock Device, you're providing a breath test sample in order to start the vehicle. The device then measures your Breath Alcohol Concentration (BrAC), and will either say that you passed, need to retest, or failed. You will be asked to take rolling retests throughout your drive.
What can breathalyzers detect?
Breathalyzers only measure your Breath Alcohol Concentration (BrAC).
Is an Ignition Interlock the same as a breathalyzer?
Ignition Interlock and handheld breathalyzers both test your Breath Alcohol Concentration (BrAC), but an Ignition Interlock Device is only installed in vehicles and prevents the car from starting if there is alcohol detected. A handheld breathalyzer only detects alcohol and may tell you the concentration.
Can I unplug my Ignition Interlock?
Check with your state authority to see if you are allowed to unplug your Ignition Interlock before doing so.
Can someone else drive my car?
Yes, but whoever is driving the vehicle MUST take a breath test and pass before driving. Any failed test will still be your responsibility.
