  1 star: I visited this DSW location late in the evening when the store was nearly empty. I entered the store with the intent of purchasing a pair of athletic shoes and a pair of Sorel or Ugg boots. When I enter the store, staff were congregated near the registers, but they all acknowledged me and greeted me pleasantly when I walked in. I wasn’t halfway down the first aisle when the excessive hovering began. I don’t mind staff keeping a watchful eye when I shop. I halfway expect it because Im always reading about theft being on the rise in Eugene, but I was followed closely by three employees the entire time I browsed. Excessively. They hovered within a few feet of me, watching my every move—even when I was simply looking at or touching shoes. It felt like I was being treated with suspicion rather than as a customer. Not once did one of them offer their assistance, ask me what I was looking for, or if I was finding my size. They literally just hovered around me. I understand the need for loss prevention, but this level of surveillance was excessive and made me deeply uncomfortable. I had planned to purchase two pairs of shoes but left without buying anything because of the experience. Disappointing and off-putting. I won’t be returning.
