Two customers( two young women of colour) were returning one small item each and were asked to show the entire transaction history on their phones, including their cards, as if they were being investigated. Meanwhile, a non-person-of-colour beside them was doing a larger exchange for over 200$+ and faced none of that scrutiny. I understand that stores have procedures for returns but when those āproceduresā are only enforced selectively based on someoneās skin colour, thatās not policy. Thatās profiling. Itās degrading, and it has no place in a professional retail environment in 2025. I hope management reviews their training and reminds their staff that fairness and respect should apply to everyone, not just some. This kind of bias intentional or not creates lasting harm and pushes communities away from your business.
