The employee at Pop’s Cannabis on Derry Road acted like she had no idea how to do her job and seemed determined to deny service for no reason. She demanded three IDs, which I actually provided, and then claimed they all “look different.” Anyone who has ever seen a teenager’s G1 photo knows it will not look the same once you are an adult. My G1 was taken when I was 16. I am very clearly over 19 now. Anyone with basic common sense would understand that instantly. Even Ontario driver’s license photos are not updated very often the government does not require a new photo every renewal and people look different. In my case, my license photo was years old. It is not reasonable to expect someone to look exactly like it now, especially given licensing laws in Ontario. To make sure I was not mistaken, I went to another Pop’s location and asked them if I looked like the person in all three IDs. They said yes immediately. They also told me employees are not even allowed to ask for three IDs. Two is the maximum. So the problem was not my identification. The problem was her. Honestly, the real issue felt like discrimination. My third ID is European. I am an immigrant, and the way she reacted made it extremely obvious she did not like that. If this is not outright discrimination, it is very close. This location is a complete embarrassment. They clearly hire people with zero training, zero professionalism, and zero understanding of how ID verification actually works. The staff at the other Pop’s location recognized me instantly, which shows how incompetent this one is. If you want to be treated fairly and by someone who actually knows what they are doing, avoid this location completely. It is not worth the frustration
