It was so fun being in the mall the week of christmas 🎄. It was packed with people and put me in the holiday spirit . I grew up with malls before all the online 🛍 shopping. I miss those days

Just seen a post on social media. Some stores or the mall, idk, have signs saying No ICE agents allowed. Thats hilarious!! That sign has as much legal standing as the no gun signs. I can promise if ICE agents show up that sign isnt going to change their mind. Theres no need for that in Oklahoma and shows what kind of people run the mall. From the comments I've read yal need to checking into your security team before they cause a lawsuit thinking they are cops, or worse since they are just security guards and not cops.

It's been a while since I walked around and shopped inside a mall, it's typically not my thing but this time it was different. I had a good time looking around at the different shops, even got to ride a Ferris which was a lot of fun, and try some of the typical mall snack food/drinks. Around this time of the year we sometimes forget about what really matters and get caught up in what we have, want, buy, gift, and can/can't do. It's easy to be distracted. However today I was able to have a few conversations with different people about many things and connect on a personal level where none of those things were even on our minds. A simple kind gesture from me allowed a family who just adopted a rescue dog named Boomer (his fellow dog mate Sooner gets picked up tomorrow) to ride the Ferris wheel together as a family while I stood there holding the leash because dogs can't ride. It only took a few moments from me but gave them something that will last longer. The other conversations I had were just brief moments but allowed all of us to recognize and relate with each other just a little even though we were all different in many ways. The mall is a great place because it brings communities (people of all kinds) together under the same roof. Whether it's a simple smile, a head nod, holding a door open for someone, or some other kind gesture, let's try and spread the love. Remember we're not alone and we're all more alike than what we think.
Simon rewards+ program is still available to sign up for. It's the malls free reward program where members get to build points for dollars they spent in the stores. You can earn points by downloading the app, filling out surveys, following them on their social media and many other ways. Tomorrow from 10am to 7pm (while supplies last) they will be giving out free canvas tote bags (5 colors to choose from) and a Simon keychain and charms for everyone who shows up and signs up for the Simon reward+ program. You'll need your smart phone to scan the QR code. It's free and a great way to earn rewards like free food and more.

I want to say thank you to the Woodland Hills Mall Security team. My husband and I live in OKC, but were in Tulsa on Friday, December 5th for a Christmas event. We had some time before dinner and decided to go to Woodland Hills mall. We noted where we parked and entered the mall. Spent several hours visiting the stores. When it came time for us to head to dinner it was after 5pm. Well, we noted where we entered, an outside entrance between Dillard’s and Scheels. Headed outside and couldn’t find our car. We walked up and down the parking rows in the area we knew we parked in. We then headed inside to see if there was another outside entrance between Dillard’s and Scheels, but couldn’t we walked around the downstairs and upstairs twice. Walked through the parking lot again. No luck.
We looked for a You are Here map for the mall as we felt if we could find all the outside entrance/exits we could find out car. Couldn’t find one. There seemed to be a touch screen option but couldn’t get it to work unless we read the QR code. Not cool. Stopped at a Simon’s table and asked the helpful person if there was another outside entrance between Scheel’s and Dillard’s. The one we had gone in and out of several times already she said was the only one she knew of.
Anyway, we looked for mall security as I had seen them several times while shopping, but they seemed to have disappeared. I’m sure they didn’t the mall had gotten a bit more crowded. Found a security person at the Apple store. He was hired by Apple and not the mall but was able to get us to the mall office in the food court. Of course, the office was closed it was maybe 5:45pm. We knocked on the class door, and several security members came from the back and talked to us.
After explaining our predicament to them, and I’m sorry I didn’t get their names, a tall man in a gold/yellow shirt was very kind and helpful. He took my phone number and said he would have a parking security team member call me and help us look.
Probably in less than 5 minutes Justin called and as we were in the noisy Food Court and not knowing our way around the mall, he came to us. Took the information on the car and approximate location. Told us to have a seat he’d go look. I’d say in less than 20 minutes he called and said he had found it. Once again food court noise and a misunderstanding on location on our part. He tracked us down inside the mall and took us to our car. BTW, it was on the upper level not the lower where we had been looking and looking.
I just wanted to let you know that the team working on Friday, December 5, 2025, was so nice and kind to two people who I’m sure were trying not to be stressed. I just want to let you know that Justin went above in patiently and with a smile came to us when we couldn’t understand and didn’t get the directions he gave us right. Please let them know that we are grateful for their understanding and kindness. If they’re contract security, please let their company know they have some great guys working for them.

I don’t know if this mall really wants customers so much anymore. The second it closes now you got a cop coming through literally yelling at people to pack up and leave. We were in the food court with other groups and families when he came through shouting at diners to pack up and move and then to leave. If you don’t want diners eating at closing time, have the food court close an hour before closing and if you want the mall to be completely empty at closing time have stores start closing half an hour before the mall itself closes. Don’t have a mean old security guard treat paying customers like hooligans. I asked him whatever happened to the mall because it used to be comfortable and inviting and he told me I had a car to get to and it sounded like he told someone else we’d need to be escorted out. Just so unnecessary to treat people that way. I ended up finishing up my food as I walked and my son had to finish his food in the freezing parking lot because it’s Christmas time and the car takes awhile to heat up. Maybe if you want to visit a store just try to be out half an hour before closing because they don’t want to extend grace or courtesy to let people finish up anymore. This was our first time trying out the new food court since it was remodeled. We had stopped eating at the mall because of a huge cockroach we killed in the dining area on a previous visit and on yet another previous visit my teenagers were harassed by a security guard who thought they had alcohol when they were just drinking jones sodas they had bought there. We just don’t visit very often anymore. The stores all have websites anyway. I can’t think of one business that treats customers this way, even at closing time and with good reason.
