They could not find it on my rewards account and we're unable to allow me to trade garments. I ditched my receipt and bag as I had no intention of returning the item because it fit well and was what I needed. ( 1 of 2 identical sweatshirt accept color) However, I discovered damage to the garment from where the safety tag was removed.Thank you, register lady.Now i'm stuck with a damaged garment that is supposed to be brand new from a top retailer.... Also JC Penny, give your managers the permission to make a judgment call or override your system for what would clearly be good customer service call. So I wouldn't have to words from your manager" bite the bullet" and keep my damaged item...Pennywise and dollar poor these places nowadays..

There were other employees standing around the store, awkwardly just staring at us in line. I’m not the type of customer to complain—I’m very laid-back and patient because I’ve worked in customer service for a long time and I understand we’re all human. But my whole experience in the store felt like a giant waste of time and money after watching them all stand around like that ): At one point another employee did come over, to help I thought, but rather than open a register she decided to chat with a hair stylist that was passing by, instead. When I was about to put my items back and leave, an employee (Kaci) from way over in the beauty department came to rescue us. She was extremely friendly and personable, and I watched as one by one she improved the mood and experience of each customer in the formerly frustrated and disgruntled line. I wanted to leave the store 2 or 3 stars and cross it off my list of future shopping options, but Kaci redeemed JCPenney for me. This 5 star review is for her, and I sure hope she is a valued part of your team!
