Brought my niece in for a fashion ring she liked, not one person greeted us upon entry. Some lady with an iPad then approached us after 5 mins, introduced us to a sales person named Bruno - first impression was the obnoxious gum chewing , we asked to see the ring; he proceeded to to check then came back and said “we don’t have the size but SAKS has it so go there”. It was obvious that he had zero interest in exploring other options with us and was quick to direct us out of the store. We then headed towards the Men’s section on the first floor - I inquired about a sweater on a mannequin, the sales person went and check (no clue what was on the front window mannequin, really?), came back and said “we are all sold out but can order one for you” I browsed around some more than asked her how long it would take to have one ord; she then said “ it’s SOLD OUT and we cannot order!” after telling me otherwise - few minutes prior. Again, she offered no alternatives, zero follow up interaction and even though I was interested to explore this new “flagship” location, I couldn’t walk out of the store quick enough. Sales people are the reasons we go into a physical space to shop these days, DIOR should really re-evaluate their training and who they hired for represent the brand. I will not drop a dime in this location and will make sure my experience is shared with everyone I know. Such a shame!
I wanted to take the time to write about my experience at the House of Dior on 57th and Madison. It has honestly become one of my favorite places for a “me” day.
First, I frequent the Dior Spa on the fourth floor. I’ve been there a few times since it opened, and it is just wonderful. I wrote a separate review for the spa previously. But now, I’ve started to look just as forward to wandering the boutique afterwards.
Usually, I’m much more of a pay-for-experiences-and-wellness kind of girl. But Dior has changed that for me, because shopping there is an experience in itself, and that is largely thanks to my incredible sales advisor, Angel.
How did we meet? It was a cold day, my birthday, and I had popped into the store just to look around before a reservation at the Louis Vuitton café. I was immediately greeted by Angel. He is incredibly personable, warm, and truly everything you could want not just in a sales advisor, but in someone helping guide your experience.
I actually ended up going to lunch, then coming back, and Angel took so much time showing me different items. What sets him apart is that he really listens. He gets to know you, understands your style and preferences, and makes thoughtful recommendations based on that. He wasn’t pulling out a $10,000 ostrich Lady Dior just for the sake of it. He understood my price point and interests without me even needing to spell it out directly.
That day, I ended up buying the cutest pair of clip-on earrings for myself, since my ears aren’t pierced. Again, he steered me in a direction that made perfect sense for me, and I absolutely love my purchase.
A couple of months later, when I was back at the spa, I texted him ahead of time to let him know what I wanted to look at. By the time I finished my treatment, Angel had already laid out a beautiful selection of items for me. He also gave his honest, “best friend” opinion about what would look best based on my taste and style. He really gets to know his clients that well. Dior bestie!
He takes his time, has endless patience, and is genuinely so fun to be around. He even texted me afterward to make sure I got home safely, which speaks to how much he truly cares about his clients.
All of that is to say: Angel has made Dior an experience for me. He has become part of my regular self-care ritual, and House of Dior on 57th now feels like a little getaway without my having to go anywhere at all. The service is top-notch and exactly the kind of experience I am happy to pay for.
