Slow customer service. Unhelpful. Stood for almost 20 minutes waiting for help. Employees just chatting with each other. Busy line at checkout

I purchased 4 items from the online store. 2 of the items I didn’t like and the other 2 I wanted a size down. So I went in the store in person today around 2:15ish.
Everything was going well I found a cute sports bra that a lady with a brown hair and a cute I think tattoo eyeliner (seems like a manager) helped me and my mother pick out.
Then I went to register to get a refund of the 2 items and get a size down on the other 2. As soon as it was my turn, the light skin girl cashier didn’t even say hello back when I said “Hii” nor a how are you. I told her that I purchased 4 items online and wanted to return 2 of the items and wanted the other 2 delivered in xs since there wasn’t any in store then just wanted to pay for the sports bra I saw in store. I also told her I wanted to use my 15$ discount. She said “okay”. The entire interaction she was just giving attitude and being serious. (I understand sometimes we have our bad days but come on. You’re on the clock. At least fake a smile.)
After she told me the amount I needed to pay and I realized I was overpaying. I was confused so I just paid since I thought the sports bra was really expensive and that’s all. As I get my receipt the cashier didn’t even say thank you or a have a nice day.
I checked my receipt and realized that the rude girl cashier didn’t even do what I told her to do. She refunded the 2 items I didn’t like but used the refunded money to purchase the other 2 items that I wanted a size down and the sports bra.
Which I was so confused so I went to another associate that was a woman (white maybe mid 30s women w blonde hair) and told her about the issue. Then she says there wasn’t a mistake and I then explained to her about the 4 items that I purchased online but mid sentence she would cut me off and tell me there isn’t a mistake and etc. I then repeat again and then she realized there was a mistake. She brought me back to the same cashier and told her to refund the 2 items that I wanted a size xs and my other 2 other two items that I didn’t like. The cashier then gave me a second return item receipt. She didn’t even said “sorry” NOTHING. Then as I looked at the receipt I saw I was STILL missing money!
The cashier only refunded the 2 items of I wanted in a xs but not the other 2 items that I didn’t want. I then went back to the white lady and told her about it AGAIN. She told me that they couldn’t do nothing about it since it was an online order and to call Costumer service.
I then go back to the sweet lady from the first interaction. And she was the only one that helped me solve what happened. She gave me a full refund on all 4 items and helped me get the other 2 items in xs online. Everything could have been easily prevented if the cashier paid attention to what I was telling her to do.
This was the first horrible experience I have had with the store. I never once had an issue with an online return/exchange purchase before. I can’t believe it takes one cashier that has a bad day to ruin another persons experience. 44 minutes wasted.
The rude cashier girl is EN6929
And the sweet brown haired lady that helped me was CS6482
(According to the receipts)
I have no idea who was the white lady.

I was assisted today by an associate that was extremely helpful and trying to help me figure out what went wrong with my order because two of the items were incorrectly scanned in my pick up. Thank you to that team member, they were naturally empathetic, just also trying to help me figure out the root of the issue.
However, my issue is directly with the way that the manager handled the situation, not only in the way that she decided to speak to me as a customer, but also when she was clearly lying about what she could do, as someone who’s been in retail for years I know these two things can happen. An associate processing pick ups can be scan while on the floor before picking it up and pick up then pack the incorrect thing.
I left that store completely frustrated not because of the actual situation, but because the manager lacked empathy completely, spoke to me like I was two years old and didn’t understand what was going on. I highly recommend looking inwards on how to speak to customers as a manager and handle situations, especially ones that aren’t even that big of a deal. From the moment she approached me she didn’t even fully listen to what I was telling her and kept cutting me off at every instance. She lacked understanding and clearly lacked competency in how stock management and skus work in her store. It’s unfortunate. I wouldn’t be surprised if the same manager that everyone else is complaining about in these reviews is the same one that helped me and I wish I got her name. But nonetheless, this feedback will be useful for the entire leadership team and I hope that they consider it.

I recently visited an American Eagle Outfitters QCM location and had a disappointing experience.
While waiting in line to make a purchase, there were several customers ahead of me and no one at the register for a period of time. Eventually, an employee came and began assisting one customer, and shortly after, another employee opened a second register. Naturally, those of us waiting expected the line to start moving more quickly.
However, instead of helping waiting customers, the second employee began ringing up another staff member, who appeared to be making a personal purchase during work hours. This was frustrating, as multiple customers were still waiting to be helped.
From a customer’s perspective, it would have been more appropriate to prioritize those already in line and handle employee purchases during breaks or after shifts. Situations like this give the impression of poor management and lack of awareness on the sales floor.
I hope the store can improve its customer service and ensure that staff are focused on assisting customers first during busy times.
