  The experience at the store started out well but ended in a bizarre way. My husband and I were greeted by a friendly employee with a beard. Even though it’s a small outlet with limited items, the clothing felt just as high quality as their full-price stores, and the first employee was genuinely helpful. The second employee, Merlin, an older Asian man, led us into the fitting room and seemed nice at first. But as soon as he realized we were keeping the jeans, he immediately walked my husband to the register. I hesitated to say anything since my husband didn’t mention that we weren’t done browsing other items. As I was putting the remaining clothes back, Merlin told me to “just throw” the last shirt in my hand. I was a little shocked—the surface he wanted me to throw it onto was a display table with neatly folded clothing items. At first, I thought he might just be trying to make things easier for me, so I said I’d put the shirt back where I found it. It seemed helpful for them, and I also still wanted to check out similar items. But when he repeated that I should just throw it and said they’d re-fold it anyway, I realized he really wanted me to toss it. I was uncomfortable with the request and didn’t know how to respond, since I don’t throw brand-new clothes in a store—it felt disrespectful. Noticing my hesitation, he walked up, snatched the shirt out of my hands, and threw it onto the display table like a rag (I guess the brand is called Rag & Bone after all), then immediately walked back to the register. While my husband was paying for the jeans, I explained to Merlin that I wasn’t comfortable just throwing clothes. He smiled and said he gets that it’s “like an OCD thing” for me. I didn’t like that he framed my refusal to act disrespectfully as an OCD issue, but I took it as a tasteless joke and gave him the benefit of the doubt at the time, thinking he might have thrown the shirt because he noticed it was out of my comfort zone. It wasn’t until I got home that my husband told me Merlin had actually given me a nasty look while snatching the shirt, as if I were slow or stupid and couldn’t follow instructions—when he was the one making an unusual and unreasonable request. I’m leaving this review because Merlin’s actions were unprofessional, disrespectful (to their own brand and to me), and ruined the shopping experience.
