I rely on this store for years as the selection, pricing, & staff are great in every respect; however when shopping w/my daughter last night, at 7:30 PM we found what we were looking for & searched for a dressing room. It was closed, blocked by a clothing rack, advised it closes early at 6:30 PM. A store closing announcement was made so we were at the cashier at 7:45 PM who was looking for a pen for 5 minutes. There was another group of ladies waiting to check out behind me. I loaned her my pen since there was another woman in a brown suit & long black hair (BL) who heard but ignored her. The grateful cashier proceeded to fill out what looked like a close out slip & handed my pen back. BL began to lock the mall doors but there was a customer who asked her to wait as she was w/the group behind me waiting to check out. The cashier directed us to the register opposite the one she just closed. She was nice, performed her duty but BL started yelling at the customer as well as the group behind me that she can’t hold the doors & locked it. My daughter & I were a bit shocked. It was 8, or 8:02 PM. I asked BL where the next closest exit is & she was a bit rude, “You can’t exit here, you have to go out another way.” Obviously. I calmly repeated again, “Yes, I understand. Can you please tell me where the closest exit is?” So we began walking in the direction she pointed but decided there was an even closer exit w/access to the mall via Boscov’s & headed there noticing other customers leaving that way. BL headed that way & I directed my daughter to walk faster so we can leave. We’re in the vestibule & BL comments to another coworker helping her lock doors, “These people listen to the announcements but don’t care.” Maybe if you gave the cashier a pen... Her coworker smiled and I looked at BL but didn’t say a word & directed my attention to the lady who just clicked the lock & asked her if we can exit that way & she unlocked the door & gracefully let us out. There were so many ways BL could have handled this better instead of being so unprofessional in front of customers. Hopefully she wasn’t a supervisor or store manager as she clearly doesn’t appreciate customers. Honestly, if you don’t want the sale & are going to be that rude, follow a different closing process or at least have the decency to 1) make sure all desks have pens! 2) close out registers when all customers are gone, 3) keep dressing rooms open and post a sign when they close so customers are aware, 4) have more registers open so we can check out faster, and position it next to the last exit you intend to lock, 5) make sure your store WiFi is working to enhance and speed up the shopping experience, 6) have the foresight to allow paying customers to leave accordingly being mindful to lock the mall doors last if you know that’s where they’re exiting & proceed to lock the other doors instead. The positioned cashier by the exit can advise people the store is now closed. Lastly, when we were looking at jewelry around 7, the jewelry selection column for the rings against the wall are not ideally positioned because you cannot see the full selection like it was positioned before (where the bracelets are now). You have 2 glass columns by the jewelry counter close to the register that allows customers access to 3-sides to view the product selection whereas the rings you can only view front facing & no one has the patience to move everything around to see what’s lined up in the back so you should 7) move the ring column to allow 3-way access like the other columns. There was a particular ring we were looking for and my daughter asked for help & was told, “That is where it would be & you just have to look.” All-in-all, if this JCP is losing money, I kind of can understand why. I will still shop there, but know now not to bother 30 min before close. I do love the pickup from store option here & that it is equipped with a photo department but have not had the chance to use it.

Prices are going up… plus they don’t have the simple coupons anymore. You have to buy more in order to save. I’m blown away how fake cheap leather shoes/boots could be $120? I could go on.. but I’ll leave it at that. Such a shame because Jcp was my favorite store for years.
