  I walk around the Mall for a living and have to opportunity to see all the stores. AE not only has incredible merchandising but the staff is top notch.

  I recently purchased a pair of Offline leggings from an Aerie store. When I got home, I noticed a glue like stain on the front. The leggings still have the tags attached, have never been worn, and never left the shopping bag. Since I’ve always been able to return Aerie items at this American Eagle location in the past, I went in expecting a quick return. However, the associate at the register refused to accept it. When I explained that the leggings came with a defect, she tried wiping the stain with a Lysol wipe which I found unusual, as the defect clearly originated from the store and is not the customer’s fault. Obviously, the stain did not come out; if it had, I would have kept the leggings. The associate told me I had to return the item directly to an Aerie store, which surprised me since I’ve made many Aerie returns at American Eagle stores before without issue. When is said I was going to contact customer service because I’ve never heard of that she had like a smirk on her face which I found unprofessional. I then contacted American Eagle customer service, and they confirmed they are escalating the matter, as a defective product should be accepted for return.

  Terrible return policy. And the Manager just shrugged her shoulders like oh well sorry. Make sure that if you go shopping at this store, you do not pull off any tags. I spend thousands of dollars here for them to tell me that I can’t return one sweater where I brought the tag in it just came off the sweater. The sweater still had all the stickers on it, but they won’t return it or give me store credit. That’s terrible customer service. I have never heard of a store doing such a thing..
