  I stopped by to shop for some work clothes today. I was dressed casually in sweats and a graphic tee, and unfortunately I felt judged based on my appearance by the associate who was managing both the fitting room and the register. From the start, she seemed rushed, quickly taking my items and placing them into a dressing room for me. While trying on about 4–5 items, she repeatedly knocked loudly on the door asking if I was okay, which made me feel pressured and uncomfortable. I was shopping with my 13-year-old daughter, who was not trying anything on, and the constant interruptions made the experience feel rushed and unwelcoming. During checkout, before finishing my transaction, she began ringing up another customer at the register next to me at the same time. Additionally, when another woman — who was white — came in to use the fitting room, the associate simply told her to go ahead without counting or checking her items, which was noticeably different from how my experience was handled. I have always loved J.Crew — my sister-in-law has designed for the company for years and often shares sample pieces with me — which made this experience especially disappointing. I am in my 30s but can appear younger when dressed casually, and today I genuinely felt both age- and racially profiled. I hope management takes this feedback seriously so all customers feel equally welcomed and respected while shopping

  Ed was so wonderful! I came in looking for pajamas and couldn’t find what I needed and ed was a huge help!! Wonderful person!

  I was pleasantly surprised at how helpful and friendly the retail associates were here. I cannot remember the last time I went into a clothing store and was greeted and assisted from chocking an outfit to checking out… Aside from liking their clothing this was an added bonus at this location. Thanks!

  Needed a suit jacket for son; and the crew at the store were among the kindest, most helpful people I’ve ever delt with in retail. I’d give them 10 stars if I could! We usually go to Bergen Town Center but being a Sunday, we went to the Rockaway location . So glad we did! We were unsure of sizes and styles, Joey greeted us and showed us our options. Despite getting ready for his break, he patiently answered all of our questions and set us up. Then Bridgette and Ed took over-and pulled together so many beautiful looks and made it all so easy for us. (Without any pressure to buy.) Seriously, the best and most professional customer service , and they actually made iit fun. ( Even for a 19 year old who totally dislikes clothes shopping ) Their expertise and obvious eye for fashion made an otherwise ordinary, and in this case, necessary, chore so enjoyable -I wish I could have them with us on every clothing shopping trip! I highly recommend this store, and especially these fantastic employees.
