1-Star Review – Absolute Disgrace at Ray-Ban – Discriminatory, Hostile, and Refused to Identify Herself
I went to the Ray-Ban store at Westfield Garden State Plaza in Paramus, NJ with friends (all young adults), fully prepared to spend good money on sunglasses. We walked in excited, cash ready, no games—just wanted to buy.
From the start, one of the employees—a Black woman working the floor—treated us with total contempt. She ignored us while we browsed in an empty store, then when we approached with a simple, specific question about lens options and a couple of styles we liked, she gave the bare minimum rude responses: snapped “not available” or “we don’t have it,” no eye contact, no explanation, no effort to help. She acted like we were annoying kids who didn’t belong there, clearly judging us solely because we’re young. Zero respect, zero professionalism.
We stayed polite and asked for her name so we could report the terrible service. She flat-out refused to give her name—looked at us like we were crazy for even asking, said something dismissive under her breath, and turned away. That alone shows how little she cared about accountability or basic courtesy.
We asked for a manager. The manager came out and escalated everything into pure hostility. He didn’t let us finish a single sentence—interrupted constantly, spoke down to us like we were delinquents, raised his voice, accused us of causing trouble just for trying to shop. We tried explaining we were there to buy, showed we had the money, but he refused to listen. Instead, he told us to get out immediately, said we weren’t welcome in the store, and literally kicked us out without allowing us to speak further or complete any purchase.
This was blatant age-based discrimination combined with outright rudeness and refusal to be identified when asked. The employee wouldn’t even give her name after treating us horribly, and the manager backed her up by ejecting paying customers. Ray-Ban should be mortified that their staff behaves this way toward young people who are ready and willing to spend hundreds.
Never returning to any Ray-Ban location. If you’re under 30, don’t bother walking in—you’ll just get judged, disrespected, stonewalled, and thrown out. Shop online or go somewhere that actually treats customers like human beings.
