I had a very disappointing experience at the J.Crew Factory store in Lawrence, NJ on the afternoon of March 10.
I accidentally placed an order for pickup at the Lawrence Park, PA location instead of Lawrence, NJ. When I went to the Lawrence store and realized the mistake, I asked the store manager for help resolving the issue. Unfortunately, she was unwilling to assist and simply told me there was nothing she could do.
I then had to ask for the phone number of the Lawrence Park store and handle the situation myself. When I called that store, their staff was extremely helpful and quickly arranged to have my order shipped directly to my home without any issue.
It was frustrating that the local store manager was not willing to offer even basic assistance or guidance, especially when another location handled the situation so efficiently and professionally. A little effort or customer support would have made a big difference.
I hope this store can improve its customer service, especially at the management level.

We visited this store on March 7 regarding an exchange for a smaller size of a NWT sweater that was originally purchased in November 2025. The director who happened to be there kindly offered to make a one-time exception for us, which we really appreciated since it wasn’t required. Because we didn’t have the sweater with us at the time, she said we could return another day, and stated that coming back the following weekend should be fine.
When we returned on March 14, the store manager on duty was quite dismissive. The same color was no longer in stock, but we were told that since the item was now on clearance we would only receive about half of the original price in store credit and would need to pay the difference for the same sweater. If the item is on clearance, it didn’t make sense why we would have to pay more for the same sweater rather than do an even exchange, regardless of its “current” price. It may have simply been explained poorly, but the interaction did not feel very customer-friendly.
Overall, I would still recommend this location because the director and other staff were kind and helpful. However, the store manager could benefit from a refresher on the basics of customer service.
