I came in to get my monthly Smart Start ignition interlock calibration. Business as usual . A few days later, I notice my bank account was lower than it should have been. So I pulled my bank statement. I was charged $283.45. I dropped by Stereo West and asked what my monthly calibration fee was. The guy behind the counter told me he didn't have access to that information , to call Smart Start. I asked why i was charged $283.45 , he told me to call Smart Start .I asked for a printout of my monthly visits, He told me to call Smart Start. I asked why I was never given receipts, he told me to call Smart Start. I replied "Stereo west does bare some responsibility here". You calibrate my car and i hand you my debit card."He replied " I'm trying to help you Ma'am, I dont have access to anything. Please call Smart Start." So I am dealing with Smart Start for now. One more thing, when I got my receipts from Smart Start , My phone number and email on file were from 2015. Should I decide to keep the Smart Start company , I googled Omaha NE Smart Start service. There is a list of companies that do monthly calibration.

This company is complete trash. I have been with them for about 10 years. The first maybe 7 years everything was fine. The past 2-3 years everything has gone completely down hill. Their customer service is complete garbage. You have to hold for about 30 minutes to get a person on the line and they hire out people in other countries that have no idea what is going on and just read prompts from the computer screen in front of them related to your problem. They don't care if the problem is resolved and would rather transfer you to someone else which you wait for another 30 minutes. I juat got off the phone with them this AM and the call lasted 1hr 11min and nothing was resolved. They like to change policies without notifying customers and then charge bogus fees. The only way to dispute a fee is on their website which gives them 7 days to respond and almost always you hear nothing back. Not only has their price gone up quite a bit but they have passed the $26 shop fee for calibration on to their customers which they used to cover. Also with no notification. When I started I paid 69.99 plus tax total. It is now close to $126 with the shop fee. I have always had terrible luck with the operation of their equipment which has led to bogus fees charged. I took my vehicle to a different service center who told me the gage of the wire that was used to install my equipment was too small and partially melted. I wouldn't recommend this place to an enemy. I feel like they know people need this machine to.drive so they take advantage of that and try to steal your money through all their fees. In order for me to remove their machine and go somewhere else it will cost me $350 or more and im almost ready to just do it. Will be contacting the BBB about this also. Dealt with their shit for too long and only reason they get 1 star is because you have to.

My installation appt itself went smoothly. However I am sorry to say that my level is satisfaction Is a negative 10. I submitted multiple requests and an incident report to have ALL my initial install fees as well as any monitoring costs waived for 90 days based upon the nature and reason for this re-installation and was never acknowledged nor replied to. See notes on. My file as my next step is BBB complaint. This requirement to have the ignition interlock is required by the state of MO due to mishandling of my previous final data recording by technician assigned to retrieve my device who didn’t go and collect it for MONTHS despite every measure taken by me to have it done quickly and multiple representatives contacting me stating my responsibility was no longer necessary This is a joke and continues to drain me financially unnecessarily and unethically
