I visited this location with my family to shop for an upcoming vacation. I had every intention of spending a couple thousand dollars. Each time I tried to look at a fabric or a size a very rude lady would snatch the item out of my hand and act as if I disturbed her display. After a few minutes she told me she had to “Take a photo of the display”. It was completely amateur and unprofessional. I was embarrassed for the store manager and the Corporate Brand. Not only did they lose a couple thousand dollar sale but we’ll never return. It’s not okay to treat customers as if they are a burden. This is 101 stuff alo.

I’ve been to the Raleigh location several times, mainly to pick up an online order. Everyone at this location is fairly nice and professional but the manager at this location is very unprofessional and have been a few times I’ve visited this store. She has no customer service skills at all, she really needs to be retrained or extra training. I purchased some leggings online to pick up in the store and once i arrived to pick up my order I realized I like another color better, same item different color. As part of my rewards, I received an email giving me 15% off which I used when placing the order. The manager told me she couldn’t honor the discount in the store for an even exchange, which I knew was some BS so I contacted customer service and they were very apologetic and gave me a refund for the difference I was charged. I could’ve called them right in front of her but I was having such a good morning I wasn’t about to let one bad apple ruin my day. There were about 5 smiling faces in the store greeting people, with one sour face, I’m sure you can guess which one that was. Maybe she knows the owner because I can’t see how she would be in charge of running a store unless it’s Walmart. Never let anyone ruin your day when you’re spending your hard earned money. Customer service took care of me but what she did was unfair and she could’ve easily did the even exchange especially when I just changed colors.

This was my first time going into ALO and I had the most amazing experience. I wasn’t expecting it because of all of the reviews and all the videos on TikTok that I see especially with me being a person of color. When I walked in, I was greeted and treated with the upmost respect. As well as the employees taking my things back to my dressing room and being so nice and respectful towards me. I also am a larger size and they all helped me with sizing and different things they felt would fit me great.

I came to this location today with the intent to use a gift card I received for christmas. I have never been to an Alo, let alone heard of the brand. Upon entry nobody greeted me and my 2 teenagers. Instead- we were greeted with awkward stares and employees laughing(not at us) with each other. I still decided to take a look around, but not for long. Not 1, not 2 but 3 employees eyes followed us around the store as we looked, but not one person asked us if w needed help- or asked us anything for that matter. I found an overpriced sports bra and a pair of leggings. I made my way to the fitting room to try on my clothes. After leaving the fitting room, my oldest child tells me she feels incredibly uncomfortable. She said while I was trying on my clothing, a young lady approached her and my son and told them “no touching if you aren’t going to buy anything” and that the shoes were “too expensive to be played with” My children are very respectful, have full time jobs, and could afford whatever they wanted in this awful store. I am not one to accuse people of racism, but I can say with my whole heart after reading these reviews that How we were treated was in fact, blatant racism. I truly believe that because of our skin color, we were treated different than any other customer who entered that store today. I did not leave with any items today and do not plan on ever coming back to the store and supporting this business Unfortunately, for them, I would’ve bought a pair of those shoes for my daughter and my son and maybe even myself but I guess because we don’t look like we’re in the right tax bracket to support this business. We were treated this way.

I was apprehensive about visiting Alo in North Hills, as I expected the experience to be similar to what I've encountered at the Lululemon there as well (old and new location). Being stared at, no acknowledged, and overall receiving a super customer service experience compared to other customers that were in the store. I still decided to give this location a chance, as I was interested in a pair of trousers and wanted to nail down my size. I planned on ordering the pants online anyway, but my experience earlier today only reaffirmed that. I walked in where there were not a lot of customers, but a lot of associates standing around. I wasn't immediately greeted when I walked in the store, as they spent a good while staring at my younger brother and I before acknowledging us. My younger brother had on Alo mind you, which would suggest that we're customers. Not that it really matters because the point is to attract more people to the brand I would hope, but I wanted to add that for context. I walked around and within a two minute span, I had two employees back to back ask if I needed help AFTER they stared at me long enough to make me uncomfortable. After declining politely since I knew what I was looking for, I continued on my search. I found the item I was looking for and proceeded to the dressing room. This didn't come before I caught an associate literally staring straight at me (despite there being customers right in front of her) long enough for me to feel someone staring. It wasn't a friendly stare in my opinion, and the associate only asked if I needed something AFTER I caught them staring. Even then, the associate asking really seemed out of obligation since I had already caught her staring. Anyway, I didn't let this stop me. I proceeded with my items to the fitting room area. The associate working the fitting area seemed nice enough, so she's probably the only positive in this experience. Once I was done in the fitting room, I walked to the rack that I retrieved the items from and was about to put them back. I've worked in retail, and I understand how frustrating putbacks can be. I wasn't putting them in the wrong place, and I even planned on organizing them by size on the rack. I was yelled at someone from ACROSS the store that they would put it back. Mind you, the hanger is maybe inches away from the rack. She literally yelled at me as I was hanging them there. Indicating to me that she literally had been watching me. It was embarrassing, and I felt extremely small. All for her to come over, and place them right where I was going to. I had no plans to purchase from the store because I knew there was online only items that I wanted as well, but I especially will never patronize this location again. Please read the other reviews and notice some of the same undertones, and you'll understand this isn't an isolated incident. It's really sad because Alo isn't anything special, neither is North Hills. I can afford to buy whatever I want, and I have the freedom to visit any store I want. Going forward though, I'll avoid this location just like I avoid the Lululemon there.
