But there were 7 people in line with shopping carts full of clothes to be checked-out. Because, obviously, there was nobody at the clothes check-out. I was told to be patient but after 25 minutes standing there and no end in sight, I took my business elsewhere. It’s sad that the efforts of stores to save money on personnel will ultimately lead to store closings because why bother when I could buy the merchandise online without endless standing in line.

I asked the cashier if a lint brush or steamer was available. They are not. I’ve worked retail at a clothing store and these are basic things kept on hand for situations like this. Also, no one in the men’s department to assist me in releasing the vents and pockets - again, a most basic offering when selling suits and sport coats. There was a time when Belk had staff and knowledgeable associates to assist with such things. I guess brand selection and sales keep the doors open.
