I wanted to give a special shout out to Dale in the Bow department. I bought a setup for my daughter and he tuned this thing with incredible detail, and was extremely helpful and patient getting her setup. I feel he was exceptional in his skill and professionalism going above and beyond what I would have expected any bow technician to do. Knowing you have guys like Dale working there, I will keep by business with Scheels. Your people know the products and are genuinely trying to help you make the best purchase with their incredible knowledge. This is a service that is hard to find these days, as it seems to be a dying trend. Thank you Dale and Scheels!

John C., a manager there, consistently makes customers feel unwelcome and uncomfortable. This isn’t a one-off experience, I’ve heard the same complaints from multiple people. His attitude is abrasive, condescending, and completely counter to what good customer service looks like. He seems far more interested in asserting authority than actually helping customers.
For a company like Scheels that publicly claims “customer service” as a core value, allowing someone like this to represent the brand is a bad look. His behavior actively drives people away. Do yourself a favor and go to Bob Wards. You’ll save a large amount of money, get better customer service and shop locally.
If anyone from management or corporate (anyone other than John C.) would like details, I’m happy to provide them.

A little over a year ago I wrote a review on the horrible service I received. Today 12/21/25 i went to get christmas presents for my wife. So now I will sum up my experience as a whole. 3 yrs ago I went to get some shoes for my wife, 3 girls standing around the desk in the shoe department. No help! I left and went elsewhere. 2 years ago I went in to buy a bow. The tall employee with glasses was helping me. A gentleman walked up said he called earlier about a bow to pick up. No accessories just a bow. The guy helping me dropped what he was doing with me and said hold on a minute ill be right back. He blew me off for the commission sale of that bow and came back to me. 3k later I have a bow. I asked for a certain hunting tip. He's says we are out but we have them. They dont stock them! I have to order them thru scheels to get them. LIE! FLAT OUT LIE! I asked for them to be ordered. The older guy in that department ordered them. Wrong kind! Last year I went to get a new set of golf clubs. 20min in the golf department ZERO help! I left the store tired of it. Finally to today. I get up so I can get in beat the rush and get out. The woman's shoe dept to get my wife some shoes she wanted. Those are on the floor no issue. I then wanted a pair of boots and a pair of sneakers. I wait.....then two woman walk into the dept and the employee goes and ask if they need help, all while im sitting here, the only one waiting for her! She finally asked if I need help. I skip the boots and got the sneakers, just out of pure anger I got an attitude hoping she would pick up on it. I left the store 300 dollars later. I got a half mile from the store and turned around and took my purchase back for a refund and told the manager why. I hate when they ask, what or how can we make it better?! Why do I need to tell you how to make it better or right? You dropped the ball, not me! Your employees screwed up, not me! Now im missing the things I had planned to do because you all messed up! I went across the parking lot to Bob wards and spent 600 bucks that you could've had! Instead you all dropped the ball! Your prices are higher than anyone in missoula. Why? Because you tout your customer service. I dont have a problem paying for that great service you tout, but when you dont provide it, what am i paying for. As I've wrote here multiple times. Why should I or anyone else pay more or to do buisness with you?! Here is how I look at it, you owe me! Time, aggrevation and the pure lack of respect ive delt with over and over!! This type of BS that I've delt with, more than once is unacceptable for anyone anywhere!
Edit: I was called back on 12/23 by management. I was told by management, sorry and that they had a team meeting to address the situations that I brought to their attention. The fact thst you had meeting b4 to address the issues tells me, things dont change. Its a bunch of blah blah blah. Then you called spokane to get feed back. How come spokane didn't call me? You had my number. I was very accessible. The person in spokane didn't get the story in full! A resolution, besides im sorry could've rectified this issue! Ive heard sorry everytime your service has been horrible, Yet here we are. You're truly not caring and losing more than one customer . A bad review, that impacts more people than you could imagine. So are you truly sorry, or is this just what you say to move on and not really care whst is up? Because every bad review you get, you have 20 people who didn't post a bad one but will definitely not be back. What a shame!!!

The store with the largest amount of inventory. Every brand seems to have an area, tall shelves, but you can’t see across the store, so it’s easy to loose orientation and not know what else to go look at. Interesting variety. Higher priced merchandise, few lower priced brands. Which might be what you want if you are a brand shopper, finding that brand section is the trick. Actually I wasn’t sure how it was organized. It is very dense. Athletic leisure seems the focus. They have a high end gun department. If you separate from your shopping partner you can’t find them, you each need your mobile. Don’t loose your kids! Friendly staff.
Unlike a Kohl’s or Dillards, where you can be drawn to merchandise across the way because you can see over the racks, this store has cubbies of assortment. I had to ask how to get out. There need to be maps of where stuff is. Posted on the pillars “you are here.” Think corn maze.
