  At the very start of our family’s six-month RV trip through the U.S., we crossed into Montana from Alberta and made our first overnight stop in Great Falls. I had just broken my last pair of Costa sunglasses before leaving Canada, so replacing them quickly became a priority. The next morning, we headed straight to Scheels, and it ended up being one of those early stops that set a really positive tone for the trip. They had the exact pair of Costas I was looking for, and we even found a pair for my son (his first) which made the stop feel more memorable than just a purchase. The pricing also stood out. Even with the exchange rate, it was noticeably cheaper than what we would have paid at Bass Pro or Cabela’s back in Canada. The store itself is large and very well stocked, with a wide selection across outdoor gear, clothing, and equipment. It’s the kind of place you could easily spend more time in than planned. Even going in with a specific goal, it was easy to find what we needed quickly, which made the whole experience efficient. There’s also a strong visual element to the store, with large taxidermy displays throughout that give it more of a destination feel than a typical retail stop. The staff made a big difference as well. The woman who helped us was genuinely kind, helpful, and easy to deal with, which made everything smooth from start to finish. From a practical standpoint, this was an easy stop with a larger setup. There was plenty of parking at the mall for our truck and 35’ trailer, and getting in and out was straightforward with no stress. Overall, this was exactly what we needed at the time. If you’re passing through Great Falls and need gear, this is an easy and worthwhile stop, especially coming from Canada where pricing can be higher.

  Just stopped in with my dad to pick up some ammo and an LED headlamp. While Scheels does have an excellent LED headlamp selection, the prices for the very nice units are prohibitively expensive, at least to my wallet. The employees are helpful, knowledgeable, competent and friendly. All around a very nice to visit, shop, and just fritter away some time window shopping.

  While the entire staff is friendly and accommodating, I'd like to give a special shout out to the people that work back in the firearms department. I've purchased multiple firearms from Scheels and the ladies and gentlemen that are back there are always extremely helpful, always display positive attitudes, and are often excited to help me with my purchases. It's a great crew!

  Just wanted to do a shout out to Savannah who works in the women’s clothing department at Scheels in Great Falls, MT. She was so courteous, pleasant and fun to work with. It’s always a win when you find someone who actually makes clothes shopping enjoyable instead of a chore. It is never easy to find clothes that fit. She brought me several different things to try and I actually found several items I bought (which doesn’t happen very often). To top it off…She went above and beyond, when she helped me order a smaller size of a pair of pants on their website that I real liked. Thanks for all your help.
