- MKmorgan knightDec 20, 20251.0I was told it would be 200 to install it was 3 hundred my appointment date was changed so I missed work.the machine itself doesn't work properly it makes u blow every 10 or 15 minutes and doesn't shut off so it drains my battery and makes it impossible to actually drive. I will tell everyone I know don't ever ever get smartstart your product should be discontinued I am looking at legal action against you.

How does an Interlock Device work?
When you blow into your Ignition Interlock Device, you're providing a breath test sample in order to start the vehicle. The device then measures your Breath Alcohol Concentration (BrAC), and will either say that you passed, need to retest, or failed. You will be asked to take rolling retests throughout your drive.

Breathalyzers only measure your Breath Alcohol Concentration (BrAC).
Is an Ignition Interlock the same as a breathalyzer?
Ignition Interlock and handheld breathalyzers both test your Breath Alcohol Concentration (BrAC), but an Ignition Interlock Device is only installed in vehicles and prevents the car from starting if there is alcohol detected. A handheld breathalyzer only detects alcohol and may tell you the concentration.
