  So disappointed in the store manager & whoever hired her. I have always had great experiences shopping at JC Penney. Loved taking my mom there to go shopping before she passed away. Penneys is where I purchase the bulk of my clothing for myself & during Christmas for others. Prices are a bit high, but the quality is great. Infact I just spent almost $400 there recently on jeans & a few shirt. Penneys is also where I got my suit for my mom's funeral in February & my outfit for my girlfriend's college graduation in May. But after listening about my girlfriends experience at Penneys today, I do NOT believe that I will shopping there anytime soon. Definitely not spending anything there for Christmas this year. I'm not sure if they are understaffed or the store manager is incompetent. Apparently there is a sale going on. I was thinking of picking up a new winter coat & my girlfriend needed one as well. So she went to Penneys today & found a jacket she really liked. It was located with other jackets on sale for like $78. The jacket she picked out had no tag, just like 85% of the other jackets in that section under a big sign that said Sale & i think it said $78. (Im dyslexic so it may have been $87) There were also multiple sizes & 2 different colors of the same jacket she picked in that section under the Sale $sign. My girlfriend brought the jacket she picked out to the front to purchase it, but was told that the sale price for that jacket was actually $130, not $78.. So my girlfriend showed the cashier the sign & all the tagless jackets folded nicely under the Sale sign. An assistant store manager came over so my girlfriend explained what the issue was. That assistant store manager was going to honor the sale price of $78 for the jacket after realizing the problem. Then the store manager came over, talked with the assistant store manager. The assistant was sent away & the store manager said that the price of the jacket is $130 so my girlfriend could take it or leave it. After a bit of back & forth my girlfriend requested to talk to a real manager. So the store manager made a call to corporate, or whoever. Then it was decided that because of the stores mix up & lack of price tags they would give my girlfriend a 10% off coupon to use on the jacket. Thats still not the in store sale price. At least not the one the sign stated. She was able to get the price lowered a bit more. But still paid more than advertised. I dont usually type out long reviews, but I'm very upset with the way the store manager handled the situation. Especially because it was already handled by the assistant manager before she decided to get involved. If the store manager wanted to look or act important, then she should have honored the sale price. As a frequent Penneys shopper, I'm very disappointed in that store manager. She could have done her job properly in the 1st place by organizing store items, made sure items had tags, & that they were in the correct areas.. then there would have been no problem to fix. But instead of doing the right thing & honor the sale price, the store manager chose to make my girlfriend pay for her incompetence. I hope that store manager saving $50 from 1 jacket sale is worth losing the $1200-$1400 a year I spend at Penneys because I wont be spending any more money there the rest of this year & all of 2026. Hopefully Penneys will still be around in 2027. Hard to tell with the type of store managers they hire. I do have to say that the assistant manager & the cashier were amazing!! I'm sorry that they have to work under a store manager that doesn't care about its customers & is apparently unqualified for her job. Hopefully the assist manager will get the promotion to store manager soon.

  Customer service in men's shoe's phenomenal, wasn't expecting anyone to actually give me one on one service, finding some men's dress shoes. The last time I visited this JC Penney was back in the mid 80s, so it's been awhile. However, my purchase today was much cheaper than Kohls, so I'd assume I'll be a future repeat Customer.
