Removed the play area, so now local families can’t shop here without dragging their kids along. It makes shopping harrowing and difficult/stressful

Ridgedale center has been a cornerstone of my life. I remember when it first opened in the mid-70s and took over the area. It's gone through lots of changes over the years from expanding stores around it and retail space across the highway. To expanding the footprint of the mall by adding larger sections of it for Dick's Sporting Goods, the cheesecake factory and Nordstroms to name a few. Ridgedale mall is very much like Rosedale in that the shops vary from the type of stores you would traditionally see in a mall to some of the higher-end stores that surprise you. The thing that the two of them have in common over Southdale in my opinion is they are more middle-class stores. Meaning you can go in and get great deals. I think it's evident by the amount of people I see in both of those malls. Whereas Southdale mall, which is in Edina and is a wonderful space, caters more to the high end so you will see a lot of the stores there that are considerably more expensive because they're the types of stores that you see in the Galleria or the higher end malls. It's changed so much over the years the only thing I truly recognize from my childhood is the center of the mall or the court area. Other than that, Ridgedale has been great about staying up with the times and expanding. They've done that by bringing in new stores that have a lot of interest to the public. They've worked themselves away from a food court and have added more variety of restaurants that are sit down rather than a quick bite. Although Ridgedale does have Leanne chin, and these pretzels, Caribou coffee, and several other quick meal places if you don't have the time to shop and sit down for a full lunch or dinner. The mall is clean and extremely well run. They have expanded the car park with extra areas around the entire footprint of the mall. It's not huge so it's easy to walk the entire mall from wherever you end up parking and not feel like it's going to take you forever to get back to your car. I think one of the reasons it's been so successful over the years is because Minnetonka, Saint Louis Park, Hopkins, Wayzata, Plymouth and other surrounding communities have really embraced this. It's great that we live in an era of order everything on Amazon but places like Ridgedale can still thrive. I'm one of those people that order things online, but I still like to go into a store and shop. I sell a lot of homes in this area because I'm from this area. And I can tell you I don't know of one client that doesn't utilize Ridgedale as a means of shopping. If you're looking to sell your home you're looking for a qualified agent in the area that understands the area, please reach out to me and I can tell you all about it. If you are someone who's thinking about moving into this area and you would like to see what's available for sale or if you have questions about how Minnetonka is different from Hopkins or any of the other cities that are nearby, I can answer those questions and provide you all the information you need. Let's find you a new home!
