Asked where the winter boots were and apparently committed a felony. Some ancient, joyless employee snapped at me like I personally unplugged his life support. Zero help, maximum attitude. Dunham’s feels like a retail retirement home where merchandise and employees are both waiting for the end. Left without boots but with a fresh reminder that asking a question here is a punishable offense. Shop here if you enjoy hostility, fluorescent lighting, and regret.

I would give this store negative stars if I could. I went into this store at about 6:30pm on 12/10. First off its almost impossible to find anyone to help you. I asked a couple of employees chatting in clothing where an item was they couldn't be bothered. There reply was "we don't have them" I found them on a rack not even 5 feet away. The worse part of the whole thing was when I went to check out (by the mall entrance) there was no cashier near by. So I asked the guy straightening a rack near by if I could check out there. Slowly the cashier (90992)finally walks over no greeting or anything the whole time he acted like I was an inconvenience. He then rang up the slippers i was buying but before he bagged them he took it upon himself to cut the tags off and remove the hanger. When I asked him why he did that he replied "I just sometimes do that" no apology or anything. So I asked him if there were anymore and he had the audacity to reply "I don't know, you'll have to go look." I said return them. He then had to call a manager up for approval. When she came up she was mor concerned about bantering with him. She didn't even ask why the return. So as I was leaving I talked to the same manager that was just as inconvenienced by me talking to her. The manager clearly needs to be retrained on customer interactions, and the cashier clearly shouldn't be working in retail.

I was at Dunham’s this past Saturday (Black Friday weekend) hoping to snag a good deal on quality shoes for my husband. After searching the aisles and going back and forth with my husband over the phone—he was out of town—we finally agreed on a pair that showed as “in-stock at store” on their website. One associate couldn’t find them on the floor and suggested speaking with a manager who might be able to order them. Then I met Darren, who truly went above and beyond. He asked around, took my info for a manager to follow up, and really stuck with me through the whole process. WONFERFUL STAFF!! When I didn’t hear back, I called today (Tuesday) and, thankfully, reached Darren again. He was kind, patient, and never once made me feel like I was being a bother—even with me chasing down these shoes. He talked with the managers about doing a transfer order, shared a photo of the shoes with another co-worker, and that co-worker started digging through back inventory since the SKU wasn’t showing in their system. To my surprise, what was projected to take a month if a transfer was needed turned into a SAME-DAY pickup—because they actually found the shoes in the back! I picked them up after work and I am so excited! Huge shoutout to the Traverse City Dunham’s team. I know Black Friday hours are brutal and you were all exhausted from those early-morning crowds starting at 4 a.m., but your patience and willingness to help made this such a smooth and positive experience. Thank you for being such a great crew during the holiday season!

Rude staff. If you’re there to buy shoes do yourself a favor and go to any of the other spots in the mall.
