  This is BY FAR my favorite alo location! The girls there had me laughing and were SO helpful. I cannot wait for my next shopping spree at the Detroit alo!

  I visited the downtown Detroit ALO Yoga store and had a noticeably unpleasant experience. Upon entering, I received a lukewarm greeting from a gentleman standing in the middle of the store. I approached him with a package containing a hoodie I had ordered online that was slightly too large. He looked me up and down and bluntly asked, “What is this?” As I began to pull the hoodie from the bag, he continued to stare before harshly asking, “When did you buy this?” I replied, “Last week,” and he immediately followed up—almost accusatorily—“Oh, during the sale?” I explained that I wanted to make an exchange, but before I could even remove the garment completely, he informed me they were out of stock. He then motioned as though he was going to speak into his earpiece to check the back room, but I had walked away to look around and didn’t hear anything further. When I returned a minute or two later, he simply told me there were no more hoodies in that style. I asked if I could exchange the item in-store and have the correct size shipped to me. He acted as if he couldn’t understand my question. My husband repeated the request, and the gentleman insisted it wasn’t possible. He also claimed that if I attempted an exchange in the store, I would not be able to keep the sale price I’d originally paid. He advised me to return it by mail instead. At this point, my husband was fed up and said we would just return the item. He then called a young woman over to assist us at the register. When it was my turn, I asked to speak with the manager—only to be told that the same gentleman, Nizal Hami, was actually the manager on duty. I explained the situation to the young woman, and she immediately acknowledged that the exact hoodie in my size was in fact in the back. Both young women at the register were extremely kind, helpful, and apologetic. Another manager came over and quickly adjusted the price—something Nizal had insisted was “impossible.” If that wasn’t enough, as we walked down Woodward afterward, another woman literally approached us and said she had witnessed the interaction and recognized how poorly we were treated. SHAME ON YOU, ALO. Your manager needs serious retraining on how to treat customers.

  Amazing experience!! Miguel and everyone else working there are so helpful and sweet. They’re constantly reassuring their customers making sure they’re satisfied and being helped when needed, will continue to shop there.

  ’m extremely disappointed with my recent experiences at the ALO store in downtown Detroit. I visited on two separate occasions and both times the staff were rude, dismissive, and made me feel uncomfortable. The behavior I experienced felt discriminatory, and it’s unacceptable — especially from a brand that markets itself as inclusive and community-oriented. I’m sharing this review to bring awareness and hopefully encourage ALO to address the bias and unprofessionalism happening at this location. Detroit deserves better, and so do the customers who support this brand. Just returned and cancelled all of my pending orders.
