As an avid outdoors man who hunts, traps, fishes, and camps the only they have 2 stars is Convenience of location. That being said the prices are outrageous, the people behind the gun counter are extremely incompetent and most everything they sell is overpriced garbage minus a few overpriced items. It's becoming more of a typical dept. Store every time I go, with less and less focus on outdoors men and women and more focus on crappy junk food, toys, and cute clothes.

Purchased a gun online to ship to store. Got notification my gun was in-store for me to pick-up. I read through the details for pick-up for a handgun: check with your municipality for gun ownership. Called the store and asked a few questions, most importantly, the background check and how long it will take. I was told by the associate at the gun counter department, my background check "would take minutes". Went to pick up my gun and fill out for background check. I was told it went to delay, almost immediately. Then I was told by the (another)associate at the gun counter, it would likely take 10-20 days. I was pissed! 2nd associate was the only positive experience I had. Further, I then got a call the following morning that I got a proceed and I could come and pick up my gun. I did not go on that day but the following evening to pick-up. When I came by, Fully expecting again to be taking home my gun, I was told by yet another associate, it was in delay. Are you kidding me? I told him I got a call the prior morning I was told I was cleared to pickup. Third associate seemed to not believe me, I showed him the call on my phone. Now 4th associate came out and said "my proceed had been switched back to delay and that the FBI was doing more of this lately " I later learned this was a total lie. To say I was furious is an understatement. Even if there was an error that morning telling me a had a proceed, there should have been some follow-up phone call to let me know this. Infuriating. I was not buying a tent, but a handgun. Incompetence at a gun department and deception is 100% unacceptable. I then tried to reach the manager of the department, I think his last name is "Malone or Maloney" I left a message with the assistant manager Jennifer for him to call me. I never heard back. This was one of the most stressful and frustrating experiences I have had. I was a first time about to be gun owner and I was relying on incompetence and deception from what I had considered a professional, reputable business. Unbelievably inaccurate! It takes some courage to spend the money and to purchase a firearm for the first time, to say this was a bad experience doesnt cover the psychological unneccasary rollacoster. I would reccomend going anywhere else to purchase a gun. Seems to be a store-wide unprofessional incompetence. Outrageous

It’s Cabela’s. What else is there to know? Sportsman’s paradise, closest competition is LL Beans. But if you can’t make the drive to Freeport then Scarborough is a stone’s throw away from Portland. Plus, live fish and exotic animals galore! Great place to bring the family around the holidays. Not sure if Santa visits there or not for the kiddies but it’s always a festive venue on or off season.

We bought a safe and it ended up being defective. The manager, Paul, was very professional and efficient; he rectified the issue immediately. The group of employees that we made contact with were very pleasant and helpful. Thank you, Cabela's!
