Upon arrival, I mentioned to a young woman—who appeared to be a recently promoted manager—that I was looking for serving platters and possibly other items, though I wasn’t sure exactly what I needed yet. She pointed me in the direction of the platters, but as I was thoughtfully assessing options for size, shape, and how everything would fit the venue setup, she repeatedly hovered nearby—not to offer assistance, but seemingly to watch me. It wasn’t until I gave her a pointed look and explained exactly what I was doing that she finally asked if I needed help, and even then it felt a bit forced. Between that uncomfortable interaction and the store’s limited stock, I only purchased the items I had already decided on and chose to shop elsewhere for the rest. That said, the balloon staff and cashier were both kind and genuinely helpful. Had I only interacted with the “manager,” I likely wouldn’t have bought anything at all.
