I had such an amazing experience here! I came in to sell a few estate pieces and purchase a new ring, and the entire process was smooth, professional, and enjoyable from start to finish. Tommy was incredibly friendly and knowledgeable—and took the time to explain everything clearly and made me feel completely comfortable throughout the transaction. The craftsmanship on my new ring is outstanding, and it was sized perfectly. You can tell they truly take pride in their work. I couldn’t be happier and highly recommend them for anyone looking to sell jewelry, find something special, or have pieces expertly cared for.

The customer service that I received from Charles Chaikaew was impeccable. Coming in to buy my first Rolex was intimidating and confusing but the empathy and professionalism that Charles showed made the journey painless. He was able to find my desired Rolex in less than a month, answered every question promptly, and personalized the experience so that I was more than taken care of. Whether you’re looking for your first luxury watch or something to add to your collection, I can’t recommend Charles and 1916 enough.

My husband and I have been married for a little over 20 years. Unfortunately, he passed away several months ago and due to my weight gain I haven’t been able to wear my full wedding set. I didn’t feel comfortable leaving them with just anybody. But then I met Giancarlo at The 1916 Company and knew I could trust him with my life. He knew how important it was to me to finally wear my rings again. He was very welcoming and understood the assignment. His work is/was absolutely amazing. I would highly recommend his store. Thank you again for giving me my “meaningful moments” back.

Picked up the new titanium Cartier Santos from the 1916 Company/Radcliffe Jewelers, yesterday. This is definitely the best place to buy a timepiece in Maryland. They have the most major brands in one place of anywhere that I have seen in the area. Even if you combine all of the boutiques in the Tyson’s galleria in northern Virginia, you still get more options at the 1916 Company without the need to deal with a different SA for each brand. So, you do not need your view of the watches to be clouded by which SA is most friendly or knowledgeable. You can just compare watches to watches, and decide what is the best fit for you. I have purchased a Tudor Pelagos and a preowned VCA bracelet from this store in the past. Both of which were also great experiences. This time, I was looking to purchase something for myself for my birthday, while also planning out my next few purchases. I worked with Charles, who was fantastic, and genuinely knowledgeable about watches. I met Charles just over a month ago, after making an appointment online. I was able to try on multiple watches from 5 different brands during that initial appointment. My number 1 preference is very difficult to source in the dial color that I am looking for. So I left the first appointment without a decision on what to purchase first, but with lots of useful information on where I wanted to go with my collection. A couple weeks later, I wanted to checkout a different watch as an option. I contacted Charles directly and verified that he had one available to try, and he would be available when I stopped by the store on my way home from my office. I did not end up preferring that watch over the watches I looked at during the initial appointment, so I again left without purchasing anything, but with more useful information. Earlier this week, I decided that I wanted to purchase the Titanium Santos as the next watch to add to my collection. They had sold the Titanium Santos that I had seen during my initial appointment a month earlier, but Charles let me know that they could get one transferred from their Delaware location if I was able to put down a deposit. Charles could have provided a way for me to pay the deposit online, but I wanted stop by to see a similar Santos in person, before paying the deposit to get the titanium Cartier Santos transferred. Luckily for me, when I stopped by, they had just received another titanium Santos in their latest shipment, so I was able to purchase it yesterday without the need to get anything transferred. Charles was great to deal with both during my three visits to the store, and in being responsive to my email inquiries in between. Going forward, I still have Charles looking out for a couple more difficult to source timepieces, so I look forward to working with him again in the future.

I've lived in the area for 25 years, and Radcliffe, now 1916, has been the jeweler that's provided gifts for me including birthdays, anniversaries, engagement /wedding bands, and graduations. We're done, now. I walked in today at 10am and simply asked if it's possible to reappraise a few items as requested by our insurance company. I was told by the lady at the desk that they only do that once a month, so she'd have to get a manager. I was unaware of that information and expected her to come back with the next available date. She went into an office to my left, then came back out and told me she needed to get someone; I believe the name was Sandy. She walked across the store and they walked back together. Sandy looked annoyed or perhaps inconvenienced and proceeded to take me into an office briefly where she said the dial or face of my watch, I don't remember exactly, was no longer made. OK? Then she said I needed to go to the back and walked me back there indicating that it would take her time and research to appraise the itmes. I said ok, it's an appraisal for a new insurance [policy, and that the earrings were definitely purchased there and I believed the watch was, so she would have the info in her records. She walked away, but in our interaction she just seemed incredibly annoyed by me via her facial expressions, tone, and demeanor. The lady at the back kept apologizing and I told her it wasn't her fault; she was smiling and friendly from the moment I got to the back. If you're thinking, well it was Valentine's Day, maybe they were busy. No, the doors had just opened and there were a few people in the store but it was far from busy with many staff members on the floor. So, I sat there for a moment, calculating in my mind how much my family has spent there over the years, and decided that we don't need to pay a premium to be treated like an annoyance. So, I stood up and walked out. It is just as easy to smile at someone and say good morning, and tell them you appreciate their continued business and would be more than happy to arrange an appraisal. Then you can explain the timeline and the costs. It's as simple as that. I am appalled that a store that clearly intends to project a luxury image would be so lacking in the bare minimum of courtesy.
