I am writing this to express my absolute disappointment with the Chanel at Saks Fifth Avenue, Boston. My experience today was the epitome of unprofessionalism and poor management.
I arrived at the store at 6:50 PM on a Friday—a full 10 minutes before the official closing time of 7:00 PM. To my disbelief, I was denied entry. The staff’s excuse was that they were "closing the counters" and could not provide the "full experience." While they maintained a polite tone, they were completely dismissive of the fact that I was there during their advertised operating hours.
Let’s be clear:
Business Hours are a commitment: If a store claims to be open until 7:00 PM, they should welcome customers until 7:00 PM. If your staff is unwilling to work until the actual closing time, you should officially change your hours to 6:45 PM.
Poor Industry Standard: I have shopped at luxury boutiques worldwide, and it is standard practice to welcome clients until the final minute, with the understanding that transactions or browsing wrap up shortly after closing. Denying entry 10 minutes early is lazy and disrespectful to the brand’s image.
The "Full Experience" Excuse: This is a transparently weak justification for staff wanting to clock out early on a Friday night. I didn’t ask for a red-carpet gala; I asked to enter a store that was legally and officially still open.
It is no surprise that this location has such low ratings. Instead of addressing the consistent complaints about service, the management continues to allow this "gatekeeping" culture to thrive. If you value your time and expect to be treated with the basic professional courtesy that the Chanel name supposedly stands for, avoid this location at all costs.☠

terrible customer service, not happy with Sales Associate Eva (very inexperienced and gave terrible buying experience). Will never buy from her or that Chanel branch again.
