I challenge anyone to find a more knowledgeable, professional, or courteous staff than the employees in the Hunting and Firearms section of Sportsman's Warehouse Slidell!! I've shopped there for years and recently have made numerous purchases instore and online for pickup over the course of the last few months and will say without any reservations that they are simply the best there is. While all of my experiences there have been met with nothing less than perfection, I would like to mention three individuals by name who I have come to know these last 6 months through my visits to the store. First and foremost is Mr. Ben, a softspoken young man whose courteous nature is welcoming to any customer. While all staff members can mount and sight-in optics, Ben is the "go-to" guy. His customer service professionalism is only outmatched by his meticulous attention to detail while servicing any firearm needs. Second is Mr. Colin, a spunky young fella' who can always make you laugh and put a smile on your face while conducting business. He's the staffs archery expert and his enthusiasm for hunting (particularly archery) is contagious. As a newbie to crossbows, Colin assisted me numerous times in picking out equipment that met my exact needs. Last but certainly not least is Mrs. Emma. I believe she was previously the Hunting/Firearms Manager and is now the Asst. Store Manager, but she truly is the glue that binds the team together. Just be forewarned, don't let her feminine appearance fool you, the girl knows what the hell she's talking about when it comes to firearms!!! If you've spent as much time in Sportsman's as I have, you realize that the pace can change instantaneously. One minute there's only one customer and the next minute there's 10 anxious customers all with unique needs. To see Emma and her staff multitask through all the customers amazes me. I know I would certainly lose my calm demeanor. To all the other staff members, I apologize for not personally mentioning you by name, I've always been treated amazingly and always have been able to purchase the equipment that I needed without any delays or issues.

I went into this store yesterday to pickup my online order, a pistol and a rifle, totaling over two thousand dollars. I scheduled my pickup for 1pm Wednesday afternoon and was refused sale because the boy wearing glasses said “girls like me don’t shoot guns like these” and when I asked what that meant he said because I’m “a small girl” and stated that the guns would “beat me up.” He never ran a background check, and instead questioned me for 15 minutes, even threatening me with “15 years in prison” for allegedly buying for someone else. I proceeded to tell him I am a first time gun buyer and was buying them for practice and training. He told me I couldn’t handle a gun like that and I don’t have enough knowledge and I spent too much money. This experience was humiliating, discriminatory, and unacceptable. Refusing a legal sale based on gender is illegal and violates my rights as a customer. I will be filing complaints with both the ATF and the Attorney General’s Office for gender discrimination. I have the right to own a gun. It is not up to the store clerk to tell me what kind of guns I can and cannot own!!! I hope this store takes action to retrain its employees on proper sales procedures and anti-discrimination laws, because no one should be treated this way, especially for simply being a woman purchasing a firearm.

First and last time I ever step in this store . The girl at the gun counter made me feel like I was some kind of felon , criminal. Never felt so disrespected in my 21 years of buying guns all over the untied states . Im not a lousiana resident. Im in Louisiana working said she couldn't sell me a rifle with out a LA license due to that I've been working in the area more than 30 days ... I've never have had any issues with any gun dealers in Louisiana purchasing guns . Until sportsmans warehouse .. I've bought 4 rifles since 10/28 in Louisiana with no issues! Or delays !! Stay away from sportmans. Not to mention i had called earlier that day for that specific rifle . Drove 2 hrs for nothing to get treated that way ...

Had a horrible experience purchasing a firearm from the Slidell, LA location. We had previously set up an appointment at 10 AM, Sunday Oct. 26 to purchase rifle. When my father and I made our way to the back counter, we were greeted by a gentleman named John Way. John handed the rifle to my father for inspection, who then handed the rifle to my for my own inspection. Mr. Way insisted he could not sell us the rifle to us, claiming that my father was just purchasing the rifle for me by proxy, because my father let me handle the rifle. I would strongly advise Sportsman’s Warehouse to retrain the firearms counter employees in customer service, etiquette, and understanding of the law.
