- DWDenise WardApr 12, 20265.0The provider putting in device had some problems. But worked it out in a short time. I've one failure already because directions were not clear. Pulled over and waited 5 min before I blew. Of course failed me cause I realized I was suposto blow before the 5 min was up. This is dangerous for me to blow while driving. I have a stick not an automatic. But not your problem 🙂 you just collect the money.

How does an Interlock Device work?
When you blow into your Ignition Interlock Device, you're providing a breath test sample in order to start the vehicle. The device then measures your Breath Alcohol Concentration (BrAC), and will either say that you passed, need to retest, or failed. You will be asked to take rolling retests throughout your drive.

Breathalyzers only measure your Breath Alcohol Concentration (BrAC).
Is an Ignition Interlock the same as a breathalyzer?
Ignition Interlock and handheld breathalyzers both test your Breath Alcohol Concentration (BrAC), but an Ignition Interlock Device is only installed in vehicles and prevents the car from starting if there is alcohol detected. A handheld breathalyzer only detects alcohol and may tell you the concentration.
