I purchased a firearm from this location and waited the required five days for the background check. When I came to pick it up, the process was very disorganized. An employee took my ID and receipt, briefly looked at them, handed them back, and then disappeared to the back without any explanation. I waited about 20 minutes with no update. Before that, she had already been rude and even helped customers who arrived after me before acknowledging me. When I followed up, she asked for my ID again and pushed my receipt back toward me without much communication. In total, I waited nearly an hour before asking another employee for help, as I needed to leave to pick up my child. The overall experience felt poorly managed and the customer service was disappointing. I would only consider buying here again if the deal was worth dealing with the lack of organization and service.

5 stars because Justin from the gun section did a great great on helping me out picking a scope for my brownie 7mm rifle. Great dude and highly recommend asking this guy for help or services. Justin helped me find what I was looking for and was also very very polite, Justin gets 5/5 stars. And the lady at the register was very polite and nice too.

Customer service is almost non-existant. Waiting 40 mins to get a pair of shoes to try out is ridiculous. I then waited 20 more minutes trying to find them again to get another size, but that employee had then left for the day so when I needed another size and had questions, I was told the person helping me went home and the person I tracked down couldn't help me because they were not the original person I worked with. So instead of spending $200 on the shoes I really wanted, I had to just walk out. Problem being, nobody else in the area has them in the right color. I want to go back for the shoe but dreading the experience as it a huge waste of time when you are busy and just trying yo grab something you need. If not for wanting to make sure the fit is perfect, I'd just buy online. This is why stores are losing business to online retailers. It can be fixed but nobody cares to anymore.

My son purchased a Dave Smith Decoy from the Overland Park Ks Store. When the decoy arrived the box staples were not there and the box was taped. When I open the box the decoy was muddy, scuffed and appeared to have a tiny hole in the side wing, the bag had mud on it and the interior of the box had mud on the side walls. I returned the decoy immediately and contacted the floor assistant manager, who claimed that “sometimes when people do returns they don’t look into the box to make sure the item is not damaged or used, instead just recycle the return items back into new orders so that people purchase on-line”. These were his words not mine. Horrible business to put the consumer out, attempting to resell something someone had already returned due to defects. I’d definitely use caution buying anything online from Scheels. Instead, go to the store so u can actually see the item or shop somewhere else. I’m

Jack at Scheels was seriously top-tier. From the moment I walked in, he actually paid attention to what I needed instead of just trying to sell me something. Super knowledgeable, answered every question clearly, and gave honest recommendations without any pressure. What stood out most was how he went out of his way to make sure everything was right—fit, quality, and value. You can tell he knows his stuff and actually cares about helping people, not just making a sale. If you’re going to Scheels, ask for Jack. Makes the whole experience way smoother.
