So much so, that at the age of 75 I am leaving my first ever negative review of a business or service. I tried to return a gift item and was not able to do so because I did not have a gift receipt and did not want (nor be able to use) a store credit. There were particular circumstances that I explained to the MOD that I hoped would make an exception to their return policy. I was polite and never raised my voice, but the MOD basically would not honor my request. In fact, the MOD turned and walked away from me. I used to buy from Bean's when it was just the store in Maine and a mail order business. Very disheartening.
