Overall, my experience with Primark was moderately positive. Some clothing items tend to pill quickly, but I did find some really cute accessories for my daughter.

Labels racks as clearance but sells individual items at full price in hopes that you'll pay full price at the register. False advertising.

They don’t answer phone calls , plus you have to look at each item you purchase because the machine doesn’t match the price tag at all and it’s always more than the price tag so be aware!

The clothing here is actually pretty good. I bought a sweater at the location in Madrid back in 2009 and it's still holding up nicely. But the real testament to a business is not how well they give you what you pay for, but how they handle any problems after you've paid, and that's where this place becomes an existential nightmare. Their return policy is an absolute joke and looks like it was designed by that kid from your childhood who was impossible to play with because he always rigged every game so he would win. Like he always picked Oddjob in Goldeneye, or whenever you played freeze tag, he granted himself some special dispensation that whatever he touches (including the ground) is his "home base" and cannot be tagged. My issue was that a while back I bought a long sleeved white button down shirt. Or so I thought. I didn't have a particular reason to buy it. I just happened to be there and thought that I could use an extra shirt that I sort of kept put away until I felt I needed it. When I did choose to wear it and unwrapped it, I saw that it was actually a short sleeved shirt. First off: why is this even an item that they sell? Unless you are, in fact, Michael Douglas in Falling Down, there is no reason to wear a plain white short sleeved button down. But the real problem was that there was no way to determine that this was a short sleeved shirt by how it was packaged; even the receipt listed it with the abbreviation "LS" which I would assume is "long sleeved." So this item was clearly mispackaged. I went back some time later hoping to exchange the shirt for the correct one. I brought my receipt and clearly articulated my problem and the cashier said that because it was purchased more than 28 days ago that they can't do an exchange. I asked if there was some kind of exception that could be made since the error was on Primark; it's not like I spontaneously decided that I didn't like the color or something. Plus, all I wanted was to exchange it which doesn't really cost the company anything. They brought a manager out who, to her credit, was very aware of how ridiculous the policy was, but she also told me that there was nothing that she could do since it was past the 28 day mark. So unless I plan to cosplay as Dilbert, I'm stuck with this useless short sleeved button down shirt because accountability is a word Primark just doesn't understand. Aside from the fact that this was 100% the fault of Primark for mispackaging the item, it's ridiculous to think that everybody has that kind of time to dedicate to returning clothing. It's not like an Autozone where there are stores every couple of miles; there are only two Primark locations in the whole Chicago area. Unless you live close to Woodfield or State & Lake, you need to plan your whole day around going there just to return a shirt. Also, they're setting themselves up for a serious hazard for their employees. I consider myself to be somewhat of a responsible adult. I'm not going to throw a tantrum in a store over a $15 shirt even though, as I said, this problem lies completely with Primark. But it doesn't take much scrolling through TikTok or YouTube to know that there are a lot of unhinged people out there who do a lot of crazy things when they don't get their way. I saw a lady once turn into a human tornado because she got two packets of grape jelly with her breakfast sandwich instead of three. You want to minimize these problems as much as you can. By having such a stingy and ridged policy as they do, they're pretty much inviting a huge, possibly violent yet very preventable altercation.
