A place you can take the family. A fun little shooting game and all the animals around the store. Has all of your hunting and fishing gear. Even a nice selection of grills and smokers.

We (my husband and I) went into the store hoping to buy a watch. When we went to the appropriate section of the store, the worker (Chad) looked at us, turned around and kept working on his task at hand. We waited for the other worker in the area to finish working with his customer, but Chad eventually made his way to us. When he did he said “what do you need?” We told him a watch (there were many different items in the showcase) and his response was “ Well they’re all right in front of you.” We then told him the specific one we were looking for, and he said “Well we don’t have that one” (without even looking in the back or other case of watches). Chad then proceeded to turn around and keep on working. Before we left, we asked for his name and that upset him. All that being said, our cashier was extremely nice!

I stopped by here recently to purchase ammo and Christmas presents. As per usual, I always end up buying more than I intended to. The gun counter and ammo shelves were well-organized. There was a bit of a lengthy wait to get help after signing in for their queue at the kiosk, but the attendant did a fantastic job helping me out with my ammo purchase when I was up next. I purchased several articles of clothing from their Carhartt section and was helped out by another attendant in that area. I was also able to purchase my archery tags and license at their customer service register so I can do some white tail bow hunting before Illinois archery deer season ends. Now, where the 2 stars comes into play is due to my experience both waiting in line at the register and my experience with the cashier. Upon entering the line for the registers, a couple of older women, one after the other, blatantly cut in front of me as I was waiting in line with my cart overflowing with items. They thought if they avoided making eye contact with me after their disrespectful actions, they figured I wouldn't notice. Whatever, I let it slide. Then, as I was waiting in line, an older patron walked past me just beyond the rope, turned his head to me and open-mouthed coughed into my face as he went past. Could have turned his head to cough the other way or in literally any other direction away from any nearby people, but nope, waited till he got up right next to me, got as close as possible, and did a drive-by cough into my face. I get it, Cabela's cannot exclude or filter out these types of ignorant individuals from entering their establishment to make purchases, but bear in mind and be forewarned that they do walk amongst you. My experience when I finally got to the register was mildly infuriating. The cashier (a little Korean woman in her 50's or 60's), midway through scanning my items, recommended I sign up for their credit card, which I politely declined, as I have no need for one. She then said that if I did, I could get 20% off plus $100 immediately taken off this purchase, so after her continued persistence with her recommendation, I reluctantly agreed and she walked me over to the customer service area where I then filled out my information on a tablet, was given a hat, and then I walked back to her register. Once I got there, she asked how it went and said I was told that I would be receiving a card in the mail in 7-10 business days, and upon hearing that said I could not be given the $100 and 20% off my purchase. What the actual heck?! Denied the thing she said I would get if I signed up for their CC. It was a waste of my time, and an invasion of my privacy to extract personal information from me to sign up for a product that I can't even use or didn't want in the first place while the cashier benefited via commission, gifts, or both from my signing up for a credit card. False advertising at its finest! Absolute degenerate behavior to prey off of customers for personal gain. And that's pretty much it. Aside from a few disrespectful and wildly rude patrons, and a conniving, exploitative cashier, everything else about my experience shopping at this Cabela's at Hoffman Estates was decent.

My generally positive experiences here were interrupted by a decision to buy food. I suppose it was partly my fault since food isn’t exactly their main product here, but I hadn’t eaten since lunch that day and the fudge looked interesting. Since it was dark out, I didn’t realize the entire top was covered in mold until I bit into it. I spat it out immediately. I was able to get a refund, but just beware not to buy food here.
