Terrible customer service.
I recently purchased two sweaters from this location. I got home for my daughter to try one and see that it was too big. I purchased two more sweaters online, as the store did not have the correct size. I went back to the store to return the bigger item, as it obviously was no longer needed. The clerk and manager very condescendingly refused to return the item. They can clearly see it was never worn and it was in perfect condition. I’d like to point out that I don’t know if when I purchased the sweater it had a tag or not. When I pointed this out to the manager, she said that if they had a sweater without a tag, they would put one on from the store - So obviously, this is not a new occurrence. They gave me the 1- 800 customer service phone number and told me to call them. I did so while I was in the store and was on hold for over 35 minutes to be told that a manager couldn’t be reached and someone will get back to me within 3 business days. Needless to say, that never happened. I again called customer service yesterday, and after another very lengthy conversation, there was no resolution. Today I received an email from Olivia C. telling me their return policy and not considering the special situation. After my reply I received another e-mail from Lindsay W, with the same response. The only thing I could think of is the sales tag was ripped off when my child tried on the item. Not at the store or corporate was willing to look at the special circumstance and accommodate a new customer, which they have now lost. It’s very unfortunate that this new location cares so little to build their customer base. The staff is rude and condescending. I will not be returning.

I had one of the most disappointing retail experiences at the American Eagle in Deer Park, and after what happened, I feel like people need to be aware of how unprofessional this location truly is. I came in to exchange an item I had purchased the day before. When I first came in, the employee helping me — a young woman named Karla — told me directly that returning or exchanging it without the tags would not be an issue. So naturally, when I came back the next day to do exactly that, I expected a quick and easy process.
Instead, the moment we walked in, the attitude began. Karla was already side-eyeing us before we even reached the counter, which immediately set a negative tone. When we explained why we were back, she suddenly switched up completely and refused to take the exchange because the “tags weren’t on.” This is the same person who told me a day earlier that it would be fine. When I reminded her of that, she acted confused and said she didn’t “remember us,” which is honestly unbelievable given how recent the interaction was.
What made the entire situation even more frustrating was her demeanor. Karla smiled through the whole thing — not a polite customer-service smile, but the kind that looked like she found the whole situation amusing. It felt dismissive, condescending, and completely unprofessional. At no point did she try to understand the issue, acknowledge her own inconsistency, or offer any solution.
Instead, she told me to “call customer service.” I’m sorry, but why would I need to call a 1-800 number when I’m literally standing in front of an employee whose job is to handle situations like this? That response alone showed how unwilling she was to help. Passing the responsibility off to customer service instead of resolving it right there is just lazy and unacceptable.
And the best part? Other American Eagle locations are perfectly willing to exchange or return items with no drama, no attitude, and no issue at all. I genuinely don’t know what makes this specific location so difficult to deal with, but the difference in customer service is extreme. Deer Park clearly needs to get its policies — and its employees — in order. If other stores can handle returns professionally, there’s no reason this location can’t.
Overall, the lack of professionalism, the rude attitude, and the inconsistency from Karla made this one of the worst retail interactions I’ve had. This store needs to get its head straight and retrain certain staff on how to treat customers with basic respect. I won’t be returning to the Deer Park American Eagle after this experience.

Horrible customer service.I bought a sweater and got it home realizing it had a snag in the fabric. I went the next day to even exchange the same sweater and the manager wouldn't do it.
