- TTTan. T.Dec 27, 20255.0The Grand Teton Mall is truly a crown jewel for the city of Idaho Falls. It offers a good selection of stores, though I do wish there were a few more. The mall is very well designed and thoughtfully laid out, with a dedicated kids’ play area and other family-friendly features that make it welcoming for all ages. We often visit for mall walking even when we are not shopping, and at other times simply to let the little ones spend time in the play area. It is conveniently located, easy to navigate, and the surrounding area has a wide variety of restaurant options. Overall, it is a place we genuinely enjoy and look forward to visiting again.

I had my hands full and used the accessibility door button by pressing it with my foot — which is exactly what these buttons are designed for when someone’s hands are occupied. A mall security guard approached me and immediately asked, “Do you have $3000?” Confused, I asked what he meant, and he claimed that’s how much the button “costs,” implying I damaged it (I didn’t). He then asked if I planned on “replacing” it. The button was working completely fine, and I never did anything inappropriate or harmful. His tone came across as accusatory and intimidating for no reason. Accessibility buttons are required by ADA standards and are meant to be used by people who need them or have their hands full. No guest should be harassed, guilt-tripped, or intimidated by security for using them as intended. The interaction left a really bad impression. I hope management retrains their staff on professionalism and on ADA accessibility etiquette so other visitors don’t have the same experience. Also instead of an intimidation tactic I could’ve been asked not to do that Instead of if I have $3000.
