  I Saw another person comment on this and it prompted me to write a review, but I had also stopped in the 31st to get some baseball pants when I was shopping and overheard the General manager (wearing a neon orange shirt) talking with that same manager (shorter older lady) mentioned in another review discussing how they want to get rid of certain employees, the general manager even cracking a comment he will do anything to get rid of them as they are useless and I thought that was extremely unprofessional and unusual to hear in a store in ames. When checking out the older lady was mumbling/cussing about how annoying the costumers were being that day and when I asked for a change of price on my items she made it seem like my fault something was priced incorrectly . I would not recommend shopping at Dunhams as it seems to be a toxic workplace and does not value there customers.

  Stopped in yesterday to browse around, ended up finding some clearance jerky clearly marked with yellow tags. The register gal had to call up a manager by the name of Shelly to put in the correct price. This manager was extremely rude to me and made it seem like my fault she had to fix the price, even the girl at the cash register got attitude and clearly was uncomfortable around the manager and how she acted. The manager finally changed the price after multiple side comments and making myself and the employee clearly uncomfortable. This is not the first time being in the store and seeing the same manager along with the general manager being extremely nasty to their staff. I will not be shopping here again if Dunhams allows for managers to treat their customers and staff like that, and highly suggest supporting better businesses elsewhere in Ames.

  Never visited the store, never will. Visited their website one time to look if they had something I needed. Just browsed, never signed up for anything, never voluntarily gave them any info, and now I am signed up for their email newsletter. Not sure how they scraped my email, but I will never do business with a company that uses such aggressive and invasive advertising tactics.

  Went in to make a high dollar purchase and had to delay for a day to call the bank and raise my card limit. Came in the next day to discover that the upper level management had found my name and told other Dunhams employees that I came in and could not afford the item (they were fully aware of the situation, just felt like causing drama I suppose.) I also happen to be a former employee of the store, so most of these people know me. Rather unprofessional to spread false information about customers (primarily) and former employees, especially when private paperwork is used to identify the individual involved for no reason other than to spread middle school type rumors.
