Took husband’s solar watch into Cheltenham showroom as had stopped working. Service top notch, friendly, helpful, professional. Cost, work needed, timescale fully explained. Left watch for repair and overhaul. Kept fully informed by Goldsmiths, watch returned well within timescale, fairly costed and now in perfect working order. Would not hesitate to recommend Cheltenham branch of Goldsmiths.

Amazing customer service but very disappointed with product quality and no support. I had a fantastic experience when I first bought the yellow gold huggie hoops on 10 February 2026. It was my first purchase from Goldsmiths, and the sales advisor who helped me was brilliant — she pointed out that I seemed more excited about a different pair than the one I came in for, and I ended up loving that one. The other advisor at checkout was also lovely and helpful. I felt really well looked after and excited about the earrings. Unfortunately, one earring went missing after less than two weeks of wear. The pair was from display stock, and the closure on the missing one felt fiddly from the start — now thinking back, it never clicked properly like the other, and it actually fell off twice at home in the first few days despite me being extremely careful. At first I thought it was my mistake (maybe I didn’t close it properly), so I didn’t want to believe it could be an issue with something I’d bought only a few days ago. I became scared about wearing them and only did so on rare occasions after that, but whenever I did, I triple-checked the closure obsessively — yet it still came off again yesterday during going to work, and I arrived home without one. That convinced me the problem was with the earring itself (defective from the start), not my handling. The other advisor at checkout even mentioned that closures on this style can be prone to breaking and asked if I wanted insurance (which I declined). I went back to the store in person today to explain. The gentleman who assisted me was so nice, and later the manager (who was one of the advisors who originally helped me) came over and she was super kind and professional too. I genuinely can't fault the customer service — everyone was lovely and treated me well both times. However, they said nothing could be done because they hadn't seen the missing earring to confirm it was defective. They refused to sell me just one, refused to buy the remaining one back, and offered no refund or even tiny goodwill credit. I understand their position logically, but it still feels unfair that customers are left to swallow the cost of what seems to be a quality issue with the closure design and having a defective product from the start, now leaving me with one unusable earring. Another independent jeweller I visited later today was shocked that Goldsmiths offered no support and commented that the closure on the remaining "good" earring is also really bad. I've worn similar (even bigger and heavier) huggie-style earrings from other brands for years without ever losing one, so I can only assume this pair was unlucky or the quality isn't as reliable. I'm gutted it went this way on my first purchase from Goldsmiths — I loved the customer service but not the outcome. I normally shop elsewhere. I wanted to share this in case it helps someone else — if something feels off or falls off at home early on, don't assume it's you; take them straight back to be checked/fixed while still within the return window. Lesson learned for me: even brand-new items can have issues right away.
