  Really disappointed with the customer service I received today. I was buying a toddler item that didn’t appear to have a barcode on it because the tag had broken off and been left on the display hook. At the self-service checkout, I was told to go and get another one from the other side of the store. I was shopping with my tired 3 year old at the time, but I did as asked and put the original item back. When I got back with the replacement, the staff member then told me, “You can have the other one.” I explained that I’d already put it back because I’d been told to get another one, and was then told, “You’ll need to go and get the other one.” And she was adamant about it. So I ended up walking all the way back across the store for a second time with a tired toddler. I left feeling frustrated with the lack of understanding and help. I felt like I was being sent back and forth to sort out a store problem myself, rather than being helped by a member of staff. A simple apology or a bit of consideration, especially seeing I was with a tired young child, would have gone a long way. It left me feeling quite frustrated and undervalued as a customer. Not sure I’ll return after that experience.

  We entered the shop tonight to hear the shop assistant saying that she likes to work late as there is no one in and not a lot to do. My husband bought a plain jacket and went to pay, with the shop assistant still deeply engrossed in her conversation with her colleague whilst serving my husband. We drove home only to find that the security tag was still on the item We drove straight back and the assistant was still chatting to her colleague. So my husband attempted to remove the tag on the desk himself she eventually noticed removed it and said he should show his recepit, he said you literally served me two minutes ago to which she said she would let him off. SORRY was the word missing here, im sorry matalan but soft skills with your staff are needed
