  Managed to get what I wanted, checkouts were a nightmare had some gift cards tried to pay with them but the new till system wasn't geared up to accept them & dont think the staff had enough training on them. That's the impression I got. Won't be going back any time soon. Shame really

  Had a great experience here today. Needed some items for holiday and not everything we needed was on show. We had to bother poor Shazz twice and luckily she was on hand to help us find what we needed on both ocassions even when someone else there said that they didn't have it. Thanks for making our holiday shopping less stressful Shazz, you're the best!

  Terrible customer service and internal systems. Incompetent phone staff. Ive never used or been attracted to matalan but i got a gift card as a present so needed to find something online. Their gift cards are so shoddy that the pin is printed on a fluffy sticker that came off in pieces with the sticker, destroying the pin number text. I rung matalan (number is same but my region is wellingborough/northampton) and got through to an indian female that right from the get go was unhelpful, rude, and could barely be understood. There was lots of background noise and when informed i could barely hear from all the noise she did not acknowledge or mitigate this. This, plus her thick indian accent made her very hard to understand. After the fourth time asking her to repeat what she said she hung up! I rung back and this indian female did not apologise for hanging up and continued ratlling off unhelpful gibberish in a rude tone so i asked to be put through to a manager. The manager - another female - said she "activated the card" and that i did not need the pin to make an online purchase with gift card, that only the long number would do. I ended call only to then find pin is in fact required to complete checkout, and everything they did/said on the phone was useless nonsense. After 3 pointless calls I will now have to trek to the store to try sort this out. If youre thinking of giving someone a matalan gift card, please dont. More hassle than its worth.
