  I would avoid buying anything at this particular store due to very low standards. This store could be closed for how low the quality of the products and the standards of the shop and management is. I can confirm the fitting rooms are disgusting. Clothes, dust, dirt, rubbish everywhere. The managing staff clearly do not care if they allow the store to be this way. The managers should be ashamed that the staff look completely overworked and under rewarded, and especially after witnessing how a manager spoke to other customers and staff whilst shopping there I can safely say I will never be returning to this store; the short blonde manager became very argumentative with a girl who was trying to return something and was needlessly rude. I left the store feeling disgusted and appalled after all i had witnessed. Matalan is supposed to be a source of affordable items for people who need them but unfortunately it looks like their customer service is not up to scratch anymore and neither are the products they are selling, nor this particular store. Hopefully other stores in the area are not as bad.

  I’m really not sure how this place is still going. I mostly shop in charity shops now because there’s more variety. I decided to pop in today only to find nothing but beige brown black and white items. Quite possibly the most dull clothes shop I’ve ever been in and then to top it off you have to serve yourself if you’re paying on card.

  Dear Matalan Customer Services, I am writing to make a formal complaint about the treatment I received today at your store. I visited Matalan with my sister-in-law, and unfortunately, what should have been a straightforward shopping trip turned into an extremely unpleasant experience because of the behaviour of several members of staff. Firstly, my sister-in-law was accused of putting sale items together with full-price items. The manner in which this was handled was inappropriate and made her feel as though she had done something deliberately wrong. Shortly afterwards, I asked another member of staff for a storage box with a lid, as the boxes displayed on the shelves did not have lids. Rather than simply assisting me the member of staff made me feel as though my request was an enormous inconvenience to her. The situation then became even more disappointing when I checked my receipt. The receipt is extremely unclear, and I could not understand whether I had been charged twice for some of the items. I therefore quite reasonably approached the staff to query the charges. The attitude I received from a member of staff called Shirgil and her colleague was, quite frankly, unacceptable. Shergil asked me if I was the lady with the stickers ?? Reinforcing the accusations of her earlier colleague. Also, Instead of calmly explaining the receipt or helping me understand the charges, I was met with an extremely dismissive and hostile attitude. Both members of staff made what should have been a simple query feel confrontational and unpleasant. I was not asking for anything unreasonable. I simply wanted clarification regarding what I had been charged for. As a customer, I expect to be treated respectfully when raising a genuine concern about my purchase. The overall behaviour of the staff was extremely disappointing and, in my view, completely unacceptable. I have never experienced such poor customer service in a Matalan store before. Following this experience, I will not be returning to this store again.
